Instantaneous microwave frequency measurement with improved resolution
Optics Communications, 2015Abstract An approach of instantaneous microwave frequency measurement with improved resolution is proposed and analyzed. The primary component employed in the proposal is a polarization modulator (PolM) followed by a linear polarizer (LP) and a spool of dispersive fiber. To obtain a flexible amplitude comparison function (ACF), the polarization state

Multiple frequencies analysis in FBG based instantaneous frequency measurements
2018 Systems of Signals Generating and Processing in the Field of on Board Communications, 2018This article describes the design principles of instantaneous frequency measurement system of microwave signals based on the use of amplitude-phase modulation conversion of single optical carrier into symmetrical dual-frequency ones for additional frequency separation according its wavelength range, and same its modulation by unknown frequency and ...

Ultrabroad Brillouin fiber lasing instantaneous frequency measurement
Optics LettersAn ultrabroad instantaneous frequency measurement (IFM) scheme based on a Brillouin fiber laser (BFL) is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The BFL is constructed using a Mach–Zehnder intensity modulator and an unpumped erbium-doped fiber, which together suppress intrinsic cavity resonances via electro-optic rectangular ...

Measurement of “instantaneous” carrier frequency of bat pulses
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1973A technique is presented for the precise measurement of the “instantaneous” carrier frequency of bat pulses. An augmented commercial frequency counter is used to measure the period (or a short-term period average) of the bat pulse carrier. An expanded scale readout from the frequency counter is obtained via digital-to-analog conversion, yielding a ...

A Kalman-based instantaneous frequency estimation for anesthetic depth measurement
2017 22nd International Conference on Digital Signal Processing (DSP), 2017Fast and accurate measuring depth of anesthesia (DoA) during heavy surgeries (e.g. orthopedic or neurosurgery) is still a challenge. Late estimation of DoA in critical conditions may lead to severe effects such as a comma or conscious state, and jeopardize patient's life accordingly.

Chromatic dispersion characterization by direct instantaneous frequency measurement
Optics Letters, 2004A new concept for the measurement of chromatic dispersion is presented. The group delay of the device under test is directly obtained from the instantaneous frequency of a short optical pulse after propagation in the device, itself obtained with temporal and spectral interferometry.

Measurement of instantaneous viscoelastic properties by impedance-frequency curve of the ventricle
American Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology, 1986We developed a method for estimating the instantaneous viscoelastic properties of the left ventricle (LV). This impedance-curve method is based on the instantaneous impedance-frequency curve of the left ventricle generated by a rapidly oscillating mechanical impulse applied to the epicardial surface of the heart.

Instantaneous Frequency Measuring Receiver for L band
2006 International Conference on Microwaves, Radar & Wireless Communications, 2006This paper presents the design, parameters and results of measurements 6-bits IFM receiver for L band. The device is a complete solution, including limiting amplifier, trigger circuit and a circuit detecting whether a given frequency is out of band (OOB). This receiver is based on one microwave frequency discriminator.
