A Kalman-based instantaneous frequency estimation for anesthetic depth measurement

2017 22nd International Conference on Digital Signal Processing (DSP), 2017
Fast and accurate measuring depth of anesthesia (DoA) during heavy surgeries (e.g. orthopedic or neurosurgery) is still a challenge. Late estimation of DoA in critical conditions may lead to severe effects such as a comma or conscious state, and jeopardize patient's life accordingly.

Measurement of instantaneous viscoelastic properties by impedance-frequency curve of the ventricle

American Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology, 1986
We developed a method for estimating the instantaneous viscoelastic properties of the left ventricle (LV). This impedance-curve method is based on the instantaneous impedance-frequency curve of the left ventricle generated by a rapidly oscillating mechanical impulse applied to the epicardial surface of the heart.

Photonic implementation of an instantaneous frequency measurement

2011
With the rapid and ongoing developments in telecommunication and electronic warfare technology, faster and more flexible systems are in demand. Wideband signal processing is thus needed to implement such systems. Microwave photonics has been introduced as a tool for achieving such ultra broadband signal processing.Instantaneous Frequency Measurement ...

Chromatic dispersion characterization by direct instantaneous frequency measurement

Optics Letters, 2004
A new concept for the measurement of chromatic dispersion is presented. The group delay of the device under test is directly obtained from the instantaneous frequency of a short optical pulse after propagation in the device, itself obtained with temporal and spectral interferometry.

Instantaneous Frequency Measurement (IFM) Receivers

2005
In this chapter, the operating principles of IFM receivers, some trade-offs in the designs, and several schemes for digitizing the outputs of the video amplitude will be discussed. Since an IFM receiver can measure only one input signal at a time, one continuous-wave (CW) signal will block the receiver from measuring other input signals.

Ultrabroad Brillouin fiber lasing instantaneous frequency measurement

Optics Letters
An ultrabroad instantaneous frequency measurement (IFM) scheme based on a Brillouin fiber laser (BFL) is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The BFL is constructed using a Mach–Zehnder intensity modulator and an unpumped erbium-doped fiber, which together suppress intrinsic cavity resonances via electro-optic rectangular ...

Instantaneous Frequency Measuring Receiver for L band

2006 International Conference on Microwaves, Radar & Wireless Communications, 2006
This paper presents the design, parameters and results of measurements 6-bits IFM receiver for L band. The device is a complete solution, including limiting amplifier, trigger circuit and a circuit detecting whether a given frequency is out of band (OOB). This receiver is based on one microwave frequency discriminator.
