On an instantaneous frequency estimator with FIR filters having maximally flat frequency response error magnitude

open access: yes, 2001
In this paper an instantaneous frequency estimator (IFE) of a discrete-time base band complex signal is considered. The IFE is built around one-band, maximally flat linear-phase FIR filters, which are used for differentiating and delaying Cartesian ...

Estimation and interpreting instantaneous frequency of signals in non-stationary measurement sensor systems: An overview

open access: yesMeasurement: Sensors, 2023
The basic concepts and methods of joint time-frequency distributions are discussed. The primary purpose is to demonstrate how a signal's spectral composition alters over time as well as to modify the underlying physical and mathematical concepts of a ...

Improving frequency and ROCOF accuracy during faults, for P class Phasor Measurement Units

open access: yes, 2013
Many aspects of Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) performance are tested using the existing (and evolving) IEEE C37.118 standard. However, at present the reaction of PMUs to power network faults is not assessed under C37.118.

Instantaneous Microwave Frequency Measurement Using Programmable Differential Group Delay (DGD) Modules

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2010
We propose and experimentally demonstrate a photonic approach for the measurement of microwave frequencies with adjustable measurement range and resolution.

"Body-In-The-Loop": Optimizing Device Parameters Using Measures of Instantaneous Energetic Cost. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
This paper demonstrates methods for the online optimization of assistive robotic devices such as powered prostheses, orthoses and exoskeletons. Our algorithms estimate the value of a physiological objective in real-time (with a body "in-the-loop") and ...

Exploring the relative performance of frequency-tracking and fixed-filter phasor measurement unit algorithms under C37.118 test procedures, the effects of interharmonics, and initial attempts at merging P-class response with M-class filtering

open access: yes, 2013
This paper presents improvements to frequency-tracking P-class and M-class Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) algorithms. The performance of these algorithms is tested in simulation against the reference (Basic) algorithms from the C37.118 standard, using the

Instantaneous frequency measurement by in-fiber 0.5th order fractional differentiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We experimentally demonstrate the possibility to retrieve the instantaneous frequency profile of a given temporal light pulse by in-fiber fractional order differentiation of 0.5th-order.

Reconfigurable Instantaneous Frequency Measurement System Based on a Polarization Multiplexing Modulator

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2019
We propose and demonstrate a new reconfigurable instantaneous frequency measurement (IFM) system based on a dual-polarization dual-drive Mach–Zehnder modulator (DPol-DMZM). By simply adjusting the dc biases on both arms of the DPol-DMZM, the upper

The errors of measuring the amplitude of sinusoidal signals by the method based on calculating the sum of the ratios of digital samples of instantaneous signal values to the sines of the phase angles corresponding to the sampling moments are investigated.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
