Insuficiencia mitral funcional auricular: era necesaria esta nueva entidad?

open access: yesREC: interventional cardiology
Atrial functional mitral regurgitation (AFMR) has recently been the focus of numerous original articles and reviews. This entity has been highlighted by population aging, the increasing prevalence of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction and atrial fibrillation, and the advent of the transcatheter techniques for mitral valve repair.

Hyponatraemia and changes in natraemia during hospitalization for acute heart failure and associations with in‐hospital and long‐term outcomes – from the ESC‐HFA EORP Heart Failure Long‐Term Registry

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, Volume 25, Issue 9, Page 1571-1583, September 2023., 2023
In patients with acute heart failure, 20% had hyponatreamia at hospital admission, which was associated with more advanced heart failure and normalized in half of patients during hospitalization. Admission hyponatreamia (possibly dilutional), especially persisting during hospitalization, was associated with worse in‐hospital and post‐dicharge prognosis.

Prediction of postnatal circulation in pulmonary atresia/critical stenosis with intact ventricular septum: systematic review and external validation of models

open access: yesUltrasound in Obstetrics &Gynecology, Volume 62, Issue 1, Page 14-22, July 2023., 2023
ABSTRACT Objective A favorable postnatal prognosis in cases of pulmonary atresia/critical stenosis with intact ventricular septum (PA/CS‐IVS) is generally equated with the possibility of achieving biventricular (BV) repair. Identification of fetuses that will have postnatal univentricular (UV) circulation is key for prenatal counseling, optimization of

A comprehensive characterization of acute heart failure with preserved versus mildly reduced versus reduced ejection fraction – insights from the ESC‐HFA EORP Heart Failure Long‐Term Registry

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, Volume 24, Issue 2, Page 335-350, February 2022., 2022
Acute heart failure in patients with preserved (HFpEF), mildly reduced (HFmrEF) and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF): admission profiles, in‐hospital treatment and outcomes. Aims To perform a comprehensive characterization of acute heart failure (AHF) with preserved (HFpEF), versus mildly reduced (HFmrEF) versus reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF ...

Preoperative assessment of mitral valve regurgitation with two- and three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography

open access: yesCirugía Cardiovascular, 2022
Transesophageal echocardiography is crucial to evaluate patients with mitral regurgitation undergoing mitral valve surgery. Characterization of the anatomy of the valve, mechanism and severity of the regurgitation are the first steps to plan the type of ...

Mortality risk in dilated cardiomyopathy: the accuracy of heart failure prognostic models and dilated cardiomyopathy‐tailored prognostic model

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 7, Issue 5, Page 2455-2467, October 2020., 2020
Abstract Aims The aims of this paper were to investigate the analytical performance of the nine prognostic scales commonly used in heart failure (HF), in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), and to develop a unique prognostic model tailored to DCM patients.

Is heart failure misdiagnosed in hospitalized patients with preserved ejection fraction? From the European Society of Cardiology ‐ Heart Failure Association EURObservational Research Programme Heart Failure Long‐Term Registry

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 7, Issue 5, Page 2098-2112, October 2020., 2020
Abstract Aims In hospitalized patients with a clinical diagnosis of acute heart failure (HF) with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), the aims of this study were (i) to assess the proportion meeting the 2016 European Society of Cardiology (ESC) HFpEF criteria and (ii) to compare patients with restrictive/pseudonormal mitral inflow pattern (MIP) vs ...
