Correspondence of Basal Forebrain Resting‐State Functional Connectivity and Cerebral Glucose Metabolism Alterations With Neurotransmitter Maps in Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 5, May 2026.
Altered functional connectivity of basal forebrain subregions (Ch1‐3, Ch4) and widespread cerebral hypometabolism were identified in Alzheimer's disease using simultaneous PET/MRI. Spatial correspondence with normative neurotransmitter receptor and transporter maps suggested that serotonergic and dopaminergic systems may contribute to AD‐related ...

Reduced Oligodendrocyte Density and Axonal Caliber Associated With Mitochondrial Alterations in the White Matter of Chronically‐Starved Mice

open access: yesInternational Journal of Eating Disorders, Volume 59, Issue 5, Page 869-884, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a severe eating disorder associated with extreme weight loss, hyperactivity, and amenorrhea. Neuroimaging studies revealed brain atrophy and disruption of white matter integrity in the corpus callosum (CC) of patients with AN. However, the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms remain unclear.

From Low Field to High Value: Robust Cortical Mapping From Low‐Field MRI

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 7, May 2026.
Recon‐any processes a brain MRI acquired with arbitrary contrast, resolution, and field strength to generate morphometric measurements comparable to FreeSurfer's recon‐all, including cortical (parcellation, thickness, etc.) and volumetric (segmentation, regional volumes) outputs.

Directed Communication in Theta and Alpha Networks Supports Content Handling in Working Memory

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 7, May 2026.
We examined mental rotation and delineated the role of directed communication in theta and alpha band activity in cortical networks. ABSTRACT Executive functions enable flexible control of behavior by dynamically coordinating perception, memory, and action.

Neural Mechanisms of Bidirectional Visuo‐Linguistic Transformation in Interactive Communication

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 7, May 2026.
Using hyperscanning fMRI and a role‐switching task, we examined how individuals transform visual input into language and reconstruct imagery from speech. Whole‐brain analyses identified key regions, and effective connectivity among IFG, FFA, and IPS revealed dynamic, role‐dependent shifts in information flow direction.
