Effect of defects and moisture on insulation characteristics of XLPE insulated cable

Electrical Engineering in Japan, 1994
AbstractSample cables having a few types of defects (such as voids, contaminants, and protrusions) with more volume than usual, were prepared intentionally to clarify how these defects affect separately insulation characteristics under the presence/nonpresence of moisture.

Impurities and Defects in Topological Insulators

2012
Impurities and defects in topological insulators can be regarded as system boundaries. Bound states may form around these impurities or defects for the same reason that the edge or surface states form.

On the identification of insulation defects supporting partial discharges

2014 AEIT Annual Conference - From Research to Industry: The Need for a More Effective Technology Transfer (AEIT), 2014
The identification of defects supporting Partial Discharge (PD) phenomena in insulation systems of HV machines and components, is a fundamental requirement of any diagnostic procedure because different defect typologies can affect in different ways the insulation reliability.

Defects in undoped semi-insulating InP

SPIE Proceedings, 2014
This paper, the electron irradiation-induced defects in undoped InP has undergone a high-temperature annealing in iron phosphide ambience. The positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy (PAL) and thermally stimulated current spectroscopy (TSC) have been employed to study it .

Characterization of Metal Defects in Insulating Materials

1990
Metal inclusions of various geometries and composition were embedded in epoxy and characterized with photoacoustic and piezoelectric detection. Good agreement is found between experiment and theory for the photoacoustic results. Comparison of experimental results obtained with piezoelectric detection demonstrates the differences between the two methods,
