Insulin-like Growth Factor I, Insulin-like Growth Factor Binding Protein 3, and Urologic Measures of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Epidemiology, 2003
Laboratory studies suggest that insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) promotes prostatic growth. The authors evaluated the association between benign prostatic hyperplasia and IGF-I and its binding protein IGFBP-3 in community-dwelling men to determine whether this laboratory finding is manifest at the population level.

Role of growth factors in the pathogenesis of tissue fibrosis in systemic sclerosis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The most severe clinical and pathologic manifestations of systemic sclerosis (SSc) are the result of a fibrotic process characterized by the excessive and often progressive deposition of collagen and other connective tissue macromolecules in skin and ...

ATP13A2 is involved in intracellular polyamine transport in lung epithelial cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Spermidine transport in lung epithelial cells involves the polyamine transporter ATP13A2. Cell proliferation is associated with the upregulation of ATP13A2. Polyamines are present in all living cells and are implicated in various crucial cellular processes such as proliferation, apoptosis and autophagy.

QUASI-EXPERIMENTAL EVALUATION OF ZINC SUPPLEMENTATION ON MEAN SERUM INSULIN LIKE GROWTH FACTOR-1 (IGF-1) AND INSULIN LIKE GROWTH FACTOR BINDING PROTEIN-3 (IGFBP-3) LEVELS IN PAKISTANI SHORT STATURED CHILDREN

open access: yesPakistan Armed Forces Medical Journal, 2020
Objective: To investigate the influence of supplemental zinc on the levels of insulin like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and insulin like growth factor binding protein-3 (IGFBP-3) in short statured Pakistani children of 3-6 years of age. Study Design: Quasi-

IGF-1 and IGFBP3 as indirect markers of hepatic insulin resistance and their relation to metabolic syndrome parameters in liver steatosis patients

open access: yesEndocrine Regulations, 2023
Objective. The aim of the present study was to assess insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) and IGF-binding protein 3 (IGFBP3) as markers of insulin resistance in patients with prediabetes and type 2 diabetes mellitus (TDM2).

Serum Concentrations of Insulin-Like Growth Factor and Insulin-Like Growth Factor Binding Protein 3 and Recurrent Colorectal Adenomas [PDF]

open access: yesCancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention, 2008
Abstract Insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) and its primary binding protein, IGFBP-3, have been associated with colorectal cancer incidence in prior epidemiologic studies. High concentrations of IGF-I generally result in increasing risk and high concentrations of IGFBP-3 in decreasing risk. Only one prior study of IGF-I and IGFBP-3 and

Disease Progression Mediated by Egr-1 Associated Signaling in Response to Oxidative Stress [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
When cellular reducing enzymes fail to shield the cell from increased amounts of reactive oxygen species (ROS), oxidative stress arises. The redox state is misbalanced, DNA and proteins are damaged and cellular transcription networks are activated.

FGFR Like1 drives esophageal cancer progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and notch signalling: insights from clinical data and next‐generation sequencing analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Clinical analysis reveals significant dysregulation of FGFRL1 in esophageal cancer (EC) patients. RNAi‐coupled next‐generation sequencing (NGS) and in vitro study reveal FGFRL1‐mediated EC progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and Notch pathways. Functional assays confirm its role in tumor growth, migration, and invasion.

Estradiol and Antiestrogens Regulate a Growth Inhibitory Insulin-like Growth Factor Binding Protein 3 Autocrine Loop in Human Breast Cancer Cells (*)

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1996
MCF-7 human breast cancer cells are commonly used to model tissues responsive to estrogens and antiestrogens. We examined the effects of estradiol and the antiestrogen ICI 182780 on MCF-7 cell proliferation and insulin-like growth factor binding protein ...

Parathyroid localization [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
Twenty-nine consecutive patients with suspected primary hyperparathyroidism were examined preoperatively using ultrasound, sonographically guided fine needle aspiration, and aspirate immunostaining for PTH.
