Subgroups of Adult‐Onset Diabetes: A Prospective Follow‐Up Study of Progression of Insulin Resistance and Deficiency and Association With Liver Steatosis and Fibrosis

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 9, Page 8004-8015, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Aims To assess progression of insulin deficiency and resistance in diabetes, the stability of cluster‐based subgrouping, and the association between steatotic liver disease (SLD), liver fibrosis (LF), and tissue insulin resistance. Materials and Methods Participants from a regional diabetes register were studied within 3 years from diagnosis ...

How the First 9 Months Shape the Rest of Your Life: The Impact of Gestational Diabetes on the Metabolic Future

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 9, Page 7705-7718, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) represents far more than a transient glycaemic disorder: it is a sentinel metabolic event that unveils pre‐existing defects in β‐cell function and insulin action, with profound implications for both maternal and offspring cardiometabolic health across the lifespan.

One Week Exposure to a Somatostatin Receptor 2 Antagonist (SSTR2a) Enhances Glucagon Counterregulation to Insulin‐Induced Hypoglycaemia and Does Not Worsen Glycemia in a Male Rat Model of Insulin‐Requiring Type 2 Diabetes

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 9, Page 8208-8218, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Administration of a somatostatin receptor 2 antagonist (SSTR2a) increases glucagon responsiveness to hypoglycaemia in insulin‐treated type 2 diabetes (T2D), but the durability of this effect and the impact of repeated SSTR2a dosing on overall glycaemia in T2D are unclear.

Clinical experience with insulin detemir, biphasic insulin aspart and insulin aspart in people with type 2 diabetes: Results from the East India cohort of the A 1 chieve study

open access: yesIndian Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism, 2013
Background: The A1chieve, a multicentric (28 countries), 24-week, non-interventional study evaluated the safety and effectiveness of insulin detemir, biphasic insulin aspart and insulin aspart in people with T2DM (n = 66,726) in routine clinical care ...

Impact of system updates for sensor‐augmented pump therapy on glycemic management in Japanese individuals with type 1 diabetes (SAP‐J T1D study)

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, Volume 17, Issue 9, Page 1499-1505, September 2026.
Sequential updates from MiniMed 620G to 640G and then to 770G were associated with stepwise improvements in glycemic management in Japanese individuals with type 1 diabetes. The transition to MiniMed 640G was mainly associated with reduced hypoglycemia, whereas the subsequent transition to MiniMed 770G was associated with reduced hyperglycemia.

Incidental Colonic Pneumatosis Intestinalis With Pneumoperitoneum Managed Conservatively

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Pneumoperitoneum accompanying pneumatosis intestinalis can mimic intestinal perforation but does not always require surgery. In asymptomatic, hemodynamically stable patients without high‐risk CT features, conservative management with careful observation and medication review may help avoid unnecessary laparotomy.

Switching from glargine+insulin aspart to glargine+insulin aspart 30 before breakfast combined with exercise after dinner and dividing meals for the treatment of type 2 diabetes patients with poor glucose control – a prospective cohort study

open access: yesBMC Endocrine Disorders, 2018
Background This study aimed to examine the switch from glargine+once daily insulin aspart (1 + 1 regimen) to glargine+insulin aspart 30 before breakfast combined with exercise and in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) with poorly controlled ...

Medication Burden: Beyond Counts to Recognize Polypharmacy as an Inherent Part of Living With Chronic Kidney Disease

open access: yesBasic &Clinical Pharmacology &Toxicology, Volume 139, Issue 2, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Medication burden in older patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) is substantial, and simple medication counts are insufficient for identifying those at elevated risk of inappropriate prescribing. This study characterized medication burden by assessing the number of medications, potentially inappropriate medications (PIMs) and ...
