A semi‐closed loop computer‐assisted insulin infusion system
Medical Journal of Australia, 1984Closed loop insulin delivery systems are impractical for widespread hospital use. Thus, a semi-closed loop computer-assisted insulin infusion system (CAIIS) was developed for the intravenous delivery of insulin. In its basal program, insulin delivery is determined by blood glucose measurements at intervals of three hours, while the open-loop meal ...

Hormone and metabolic research. Supplement series, 1980
Strict control of blood glucose was achieved by continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion with a specially adapted Mill Hill Infuser for 3-4 days. This led to normalisation of some of the intermediary metabolites. In a few patients, subcutaneous infusions have been carried out for periods up to 3 months with home monitoring of blood glucose, without ...

Insulin Compatibility with Polymer Materials Used in External Pump Infusion Systems
Diabetic Medicine, 1988In a study designed to mimic actual user conditions for external insulin pump infusion, the insulin quality after passage through the infusion set was assessed by various analytical methods, including high performance liquid chromatography. The two infusion sets tested consisted of, firstly, a polyvinylchloride/rubber syringe and a polyvinylchloride ...

Integrated catheter system for continuous glucose measurement and simultaneous insulin infusion
Biosensors and Bioelectronics, 2015A new measurement system enables combination of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) and insulin infusion. A sensor system comprising an optical glucose biosensor and an optical oxygen sensor is integrated into the insulin infusion catheter of an insulin pump.

Effect of glucose-insulin-potassium infusion on the human conduction system
The American Journal of Cardiology, 1974His bundle electrograms were performed in 21 patients with organic heart disease. Recordings were made at various rates utilizing right atrial pacing. A mixture containing 50 g of glucose, 10 mEq of potassium and 20 units of insulin was given intravenously over 10 minutes to 10 subjects.

Technology of pre-programmable insulin delivery systems: continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion.
Hormone and metabolic research. Supplement series, 1980Dual-rate continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion was performed with a specially adapted Mill Hill Infuser. The infuser delivers 2 rates, a slow rate of ca. 50 microliter/h and an eightfold higher rate, designed to cover the increased requirement during meals.

Effect of whole blood on insulin adsorption onto intravenous infusion systems
American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy, 1980Insulin availability following the addition of whole blood to insulin infusions was evaluated. Solutions of 0.45% sodium chloride containing insulin (50) units/liter) and tracer amounts of 125I-labeled insulin were prepared and added to plastic or glass intravenous containers.

Substitution of Islet-Cell Function With “Open-Loop” Insulin Infusion Systems
1979It is still not entirely clear to what extent the late complications of diabetes depend upon the quality of metabolic control. However, more recent studies have provided strong arguments for a causal relationship (1,2). It also became increasingly evident how inadequate in fact is our therapy with diet and subcutaneous insulin injections (3).

Preprogrammed insulin infusion with a portable pump system.
Hormone and metabolic research. Supplement series, 1980A glucose-controlled insulin infusion system (Biostator) was used to determine patient insulin requirement for clinical evaluation of a portable pump system (technical development by Siemens AG). Results from 6 insulin-dependent diabetics with respect to quality of control, carbohydrate/insulin ratio, and insulin requirement are shown.
