C16 Phase High Entropy Borides With High Magnetic Anisotropy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Rare‐earth‐free C16‐phase high entropy boride thin films exhibit enhanced magnetic anisotropy with coercivities surpassing their binary and ternary counterparts. Combinatorial synthesis of (Fe‐Co‐Ni‐Mn)2B films combined with density functional theory enables mapping of the magnetic properties across the composition space, revealing high entropy ...

Tropical Fock–Goncharov coordinates for $\mathrm {SL}_3$ -webs on surfaces I: construction

open access: yesForum of Mathematics, Sigma
For a finite-type surface $\mathfrak {S}$ , we study a preferred basis for the commutative algebra $\mathbb {C}[\mathscr {R}_{\mathrm {SL}_3(\mathbb {C})}(\mathfrak {S})]$ of regular functions on the $\mathrm {SL}_3(\mathbb {C ...

Asynchronous Coordination of Distributed Mixed-Integer Linear Subsystems via Surrogate Lagrangian Relaxation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
With the emergence of Internet of Things that allows communications and local computations, and with the vision of Industry 4.0, a foreseeable transition is from centralized system planning and operation toward decentralization with interacting components and subsystems, e.g., self-optimizing factories. In this paper, a new “price-based” decomposition

The Possibility of New Complex Magnet Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The quest for stronger magnets enters a new era. With the developments of AI‐driven materials discovery, computational prediction of magnetic properties, and autonomous laboratories, researchers can now explore millions of untested structures. Discovery of next‐generation ultra‐powerful magnets – critical for electric vehicles, renewable energy, and ...

Azimuthal mode decomposition of millimeter-wave integer and non-integer optical vortices generated by a spiral mirror

open access: yesAIP Advances
We investigated the characteristics of both integer and non-integer optical vortices (OVs) in the millimeter-wave regime generated by a spiral mirror. An OV, characterized by the phase term eiℓϕ, also known as a Laguerre–Gaussian (LG) beam, is a solution

Performance investigation of LAMBDA and bootstrapping methods for PPP narrow-lane ambiguity resolution

open access: yesGeo-spatial Information Science, 2021
Precise point positioning with ambiguity resolution (PPP-AR) is a powerful tool for geodetic and time-constrained applications that require high precision.

Electric‐Current‐Assisted Nucleation of Zero‐Field Hopfion Rings

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work reports a novel and efficient nucleation protocol for 3D localized topological magnetic solitons‐hopfion rings in chiral magnets using pulsed electric currents. By using Lorentz transmission electron microscopy and topological analysis, we report characteristic features and extraordinary stability of hopfion rings in zero or inverted external

The Geometric Index of the Wheel, Wn

open access: yesDavao Research Journal, 1998
The geometric index of a graph G is defined as the smallest non-negative integer n such that a graph G is a unit graph in r. Graphs considered are finite, undirected, without loops nor multiple edges.

Continuum Mechanics Modeling of Flexible Spring Joints in Surgical Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A new mechanical model of a tendon‐actuated helical extension spring joint in surgical robots is built using Cosserat rod theory. The model can implicitly handle the unknown contacts between adjacent coils and numerically predict spring shapes from straight to significantly bent under actuation forces.

An Integer Ambiguity Resolution Method Based on the Hybrid Adaptive Differential Evolution Grey Wolf Optimizer Algorithm

open access: yesAlgorithms
In Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), high-precision position coordinates are typically determined by establishing a double-difference carrier phase observation model and resolving the integer ambiguities within it. Therefore, the ability to fix
