SEISMIC ANALYSIS OF INTEGRAL ABUTMENT BRIDGES CONSIDERING SOIL STRUCTURE INTERACTION

open access: yes, 2010
Integral abutment bridges are jointless bridges in which the deck is continuous and connected monolithically with the abutment walls supported typically by a single row of piles.

Impact of half‐joint failures on RC girder bridges: A robustness quantification study

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract The robustness of bridge structures is critical to ensuring safety and service continuity, particularly in aging infrastructure exposed to degradation and unexpected loads. Reinforced concrete (RC) half‐joint bridges—widely built in Italy between the 1950s and 1970s—exhibit specific vulnerabilities due to inspection challenges, durability ...

Soil-Structure Interaction Issues in Integral Abutment Bridges

open access: yesTransportation Geotechnics
Integral Abutment Bridges (IABs) are constructed without expansion joints and bearings, connecting the bridge deck monolithically to the end abutments. Therefore, the construction and maintenance costs of IABs are low compared to conventional bridges with bearings and joints.

Seismic evaluation of the southbound Stellenberg Interchange Bridge, B5593, in South Africa

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract This study presents a nonlinear finite element assessment of the seismic vulnerability of Bridge B5593, located in the south‐western region of South Africa. Previous evaluations identified a high likelihood of column failure; however, these were based on linear material models incapable of capturing damage evolution.

Nonthermal plasma approaches for combating implant‐associated infections: A compendious review

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Implant‐associated infections pose serious clinical challenges. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) modifications overcome this bottleneck in distinct ways relative to traditional sterilization methods. Gas‐phase plasmas generate highly energetic species, UV radiation and reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), which alter the implant surface properties.

A study on the effects of abutment cyclic movements on the approach of integral abutment bridges

open access: yes, 2016
Abutments in integral bridges experience rotational cyclic movements as a result of the temperature induced changes in the longitudinal dimension of the bridge deck.

Integral bridge abutment-soil interaction analysis using PIV technique

open access: yes, 2021
Integral abutment bridges(IABs) are bridges designed without the use of expansion joints. Hence, the superstructure and substructure of IABs translate or rotate in unison to accommodate alternate cycles of expansion and contraction due to temperature ...

Outcomes in Orbit‐Sparing Versus Orbit‐Sacrificing Surgery for Sinonasal Malignancies With Orbital Involvement: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesWorld Journal of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Sinonasal malignancies with orbital involvement may be managed with orbit‐sacrificing or orbit‐preserving surgical approaches, with a recent shift towards orbital preservation to reduce postoperative morbidity while maintaining oncological success.

A comparative in vitro analysis of various temporization materials with respect to pulp chamber temperature changes during polymerization

open access: yesThe Journal of Indian Prosthodontic Society
Aim: (1) To compare the temperature rise in the pulp chamber with different resin materials used for making provisional fixed partial dentures in anterior and posterior region while using Polyvinylsiloxane impression materials as matrix.
