Principles for Rigorous Design and Application of Synthetic Microbial Communities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SynComs are artificially designed to enable inter‐species metabolic interactions, metabolic division of labor, and ecological interactions that can elicit phenotypes like colonization stability and environmental adaptation. This systematic review explores the processes used to construct SynComs, the assessment of the mechanisms of metabolic interaction

Water‐Efficient Smart Drip Irrigation Enabled by a Low‐Power and High‐Efficiency Flexible Electromagnetic Actuator

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Water scarcity poses a critical threat to global food security. A low‐power, flexible electromagnetic actuator is presented for smart drip irrigation systems. The device achieves precise, wide‐range flow modulation (0.05–5.8 mL/min) in response to real‐time plant demands, reducing water consumption compared to conventional flood irrigation.

Hot Electron‐Assisted Noble‐Metal‐Free Synergistic Photothermal Catalyst for Solar‐Driven Wastewater Remediation and Microbial Disinfection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A multifunctional Bi2Te3@CdS hybrid system is presented for solar‐driven wastewater remediation and indoor disinfection. The catalyst coated on PU foam efficiently harvests visible‐NIR light to generate heat and reactive oxygen species, enabling the rapid mineralization of organic pollutants.

Foundations of Integral Ecology

open access: yes, 2019
This article aims to explore the internal architecture of Laudato si’ in search of the roots of the fundamental principles of integral ecology. Once the principles of «everything is connected» and «the whole is greater than the part» are studied and evaluated as the foundations that underpin the encyclical, the article will address the theology of the ...
