An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

New techniques of multiple integral field spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The work of this thesis is to investigate new techniques for Integral Field Spectroscopy (IPS) to make the most efficient use of modem large telescopes. Most of the work described is aimed at the FMOS for the SUBARU 8m telescope.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Competency-based cardiac imaging for patient-centred care. A statement of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Imaging plays an integral role in all aspects of managing heart disease and cardiac imaging is a core competency of cardiologists. The adequate delivery of cardiac imaging services requires expertise in both imaging methodology – with specific ...

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Integral imaging with large depth of field using an asymmetric phase mask [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We propose to improve the depth of field of Integral Imaging systems by combining an array of phase masks with the traditional lenslet array. We show that obtained elemental images are sharp over a larger range than with a regular lenslet array.

Binary Ghost Imaging Based on the Fuzzy Integral Method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
The reconstruction quality of binary ghost imaging depends on the speckle binarization process. In order to obtain better binarization speckle and improve the reconstruction quality of binary ghost imaging, a local adaptive binarization method based on ...

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.
