Integral zeroes of Krawtchouk polynomials [PDF]
This thesis was submitted for the degree of Master of Philosophy and awarded by Brunel University.Krawtchouk polynomials appear in many various areas of mathematics starting from discrete mathematics (e.g., in coding theory), association schemes, and in ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

On Properties of Karamata Slowly Varying Functions with Remainder and Their Applications
In this paper, we study the asymptotic properties of slowly varying functions of one real variable in the sense of Karamata. We establish analogs of fundamental theorems on uniform convergence and integral representation for slowly varying functions with

A Discrete Choquet Integral for Ordered Systems [PDF]
A model for a Choquet integral for arbitrary finite set systems is presented. The model includes in particular the classical model on the system of all subsets of a finite set.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

A new integral for capacities [PDF]
A new integral for capacities, different from the Choquet integral, is introduced and characterized. The main feature of the new integral is concavity, which might be interpreted as uncertainty aversion. The integral is then extended to fuzzy capacities,

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

A Representation of Preferences by the Choquet Integral with Respect to a 2-Additive Capacity [PDF]
In the context of Multiple criteria decision analysis, we present the necessary and sufficient conditions allowing to represent an ordinal preferential information provided by the decision maker by a Choquet integral w.r.t a 2-additive capacity.

Representation of Itô integrals by Lebesgue/Bochner integrals
In [Yong 2004], it was proved that as long as the integrand has certain properties, the corresponding It\^o integral can be written as a (parameterized) Lebesgue integral (or a Bochner integral). In this paper, we show that such a question can be answered in a more positive and refined way.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
