It is well known that the relative gain array (RGA) and the determinant of the gain matrix provide useful information about integral controllability and integrity (e.g., failure tolerance), which are important issues in decentralized control. The RGA also gives information about robustness with respect to modeling errors and input uncertainty.

Integrator backstepping for rounded controls and control rates

IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 1998
A set of conditions guaranteeing the existence of a stabilizing control law for a class of nonlinear systems is presented. A backstepping procedure is proposed such that the magnitudes of both the control signal and its derivative are bounded by constants which do not depend on the initial conditions.
