Liquid membrane extraction of bio-active amphiphilic substances: Recovery of surfactin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The interest of application of liquid membrane (pertraction) processes for recovery of biosurfactants from aqueous media was demonstrated. Transport of pure surfactin in three-liquid-phase system was studied.

Hybrid CO2 capture processes consisting of membranes: A technical and techno-economic review

open access: yesAdvanced Membranes, 2023
Because of the greenhouse effect, there is a pressing need to restrict and reduce CO2 emissions. Post-combustion capture technology is a type of widely used technologies for CO2 capture. Compared to the standalone CO2 capture processes such as absorption

Simulation of Perovskite Membrane for Integration into a Chemical Looping Air Separation Unit

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2014
The Chemical Looping Air Separation (CLAS) process was developed at the University of Newcastle for tonnage oxygen production. CLAS has a much lower energy intensity than conventional processes, requiring only 12 % of the specific power consumption ...

In-situ monitoring techniques for membrane fouling and local filtration characteristics in hollow fiber membrane processes: A critical review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
© 2017 Elsevier B.V. Membrane fouling is the most serious challenge in the hollow fiber microfiltration (MF) and ultrafiltration (UF) processes. A number of in-situ monitoring techniques including optical and non-optical probes have been developed so ...

Development of an integrated membrane process for water reclamation

open access: yesWater Science and Technology, 2005
An integrated membrane process (IMP) comprising a membrane bioreactor (MBR) and a reverse osmosis (RO) process was developed for water reclamation. Wastewater was treated by an MBR operated at a sludge retention time (SRT) of 20 days and a hydraulic retention time (HRT) of 5.5 h. The IMP had an overall recovery efficiency of 80%.
