Operation of Fabry-Perot laser with nonlinear PT-symmetric mirror [PDF]
The above-threshold operation of a Fabry-Perot laser with a nonlinear PT (parity time) mirror is investigated. For the first time, the analysis accounts for gain saturation of an active medium as well as gain and loss saturation effects in the PT mirror.

Direct recognition of Raman spectra without baseline correction based on deep learning
Raman spectroscopy, widely used for material analysis, has formed an extensive spectral library. In practical applications, it is usually necessary to preprocess Raman spectroscopy of the target material and then identify the material through spectral ...

Abstract The past two decades have produced extensive evidence on the manifold and severe outcomes for victims of aggression exposure in the workplace. However, due to the dominating individual‐centered approach, most findings miss a social network perspective.

Improving SPDC single-photon sources via extended heralding and feed-forward control
Evolving photonic quantum technologies and applications require higher and higher rates of single photon generation. In parallel, it is required that these generated photons are kept spectrally pure for multi-photon experiments and that multi-photon ...

Topology-optimized ultra-compact all-optical logic devices on silicon photonic platforms [PDF]
The realization of all-optical integration and optical computing has always been our goal. One of the most significant challenges is to make integrated all-optical logic devices as small as possible. Here, we report the implementation of ultra-compact all-optical logic devices and integrated chips on silicon photonic platforms by topology optimization.

Experimental access to higher-dimensional entangled quantum systems using integrated optics [PDF]
Integrated optics allow the generation and control of increasingly complex photonic states on chip based architectures. Here, we implement two entangled qutrits - a 9-dimensional quantum system - and demonstrate an exceptionally high degree of ...

Integrated sources of photon quantum states based on nonlinear optics [PDF]
The ability to generate complex optical photon states involving entanglement between multiple optical modes is not only critical to advancing our understanding of quantum mechanics but will play a key role in generating many applications in quantum ...

Semi‐supervised classification of fundus images combined with CNN and GCN
Abstract Purpose Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is one of the most serious complications of diabetes, which is a kind of fundus lesion with specific changes. Early diagnosis of DR can effectively reduce the visual damage caused by DR. Due to the variety and different morphology of DR lesions, automatic classification of fundus images in mass screening can ...

Higher-order optical resonance node detection of integrated disk microresonator [PDF]
We have demonstrated higher-order optical resonance node detection by using an integrated disk microresonator from through port of the coupling bus waveguide. In addition to the fundamental mode, the disk resonator has higher-order whispering gallery modes.
