Metamaterial Waveguide Devices for Integrated Optics [PDF]
We show the feasibility of controlling the magnetic permeability of optical semiconductor devices on InP-based photonic integration platforms. We have achieved the permeability control of GaInAsP/InP semiconductor waveguides by combining the waveguide with a metamaterial consisting of gate-controlled split ring resonators.

Integration of Optical Fiber and Optoelectronic Devices [PDF]
The paper reports on pursing a different, potentially complementary vision of all-fiber optoelectronics in which light can be generated, modulated, and detected within the fiber itself. Fiber devices are in general valued for their robustness, simplicity, and ability to integrate seamlessly with existing fiber infrastructure.

Proposal of Unsupervised Gas Classification by Multimode Microresonator
A high-accuracy unsupervised classification model is developed in a multimode self-interference microring resonator (SIMRR). For the SIMRR, there are many whispering gallery modes (WGMs) present. Each of these resonance modes supported by the SIMRR has a

Reliable Integrated Photonic Light Sources Using Curved Al2O3:Er3+ Distributed Feedback Lasers
We propose a curved erbium doped aluminum oxide (Al2O3:Er3+) distributed feedback (DFB) laser for a reliable integrated photonics light source. The curved structure allows us for compensation of the radially varying film thickness due to the Al2O3:
