Reliable Integrated Photonic Light Sources Using Curved Al2O3:Er3+ Distributed Feedback Lasers

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2017
We propose a curved erbium doped aluminum oxide (Al2O3:Er3+) distributed feedback (DFB) laser for a reliable integrated photonics light source. The curved structure allows us for compensation of the radially varying film thickness due to the Al2O3:

High-Q-Factor Silica-Based Racetrack Microring Resonators

open access: yesPhotonics, 2021
In this paper, ultrahigh-Q factor racetrack microring resonators (MRRs) are demonstrated based on silica planar lightwave circuits (PLCs) platform. A loaded ultrahigh-Q factor Qload of 1.83 × 106 is obtained.

All-optical integrated optic devices: A hybrid approach

open access: yesIEE Proceedings - Optoelectronics, 1998
All-optical data processing is highly desirable in optical data-communication networks because of the increasing need of bandwidth and optical transparency. The paper presents an evaluation of integrated optics device concepts, discusses materials requirements and gives experimental results of own work on devices based on silicon technology with hybrid

Numerical and experimental studies of coupling-induced phase shift in resonator and interferometric integrated optics devices.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2012
Coupling induced effects are higher order effects inherent in waveguide evanescent coupling that are known to spectrally distort optical performances of integrated optics devices formed by coupled resonators.

High-Q-Factor Tunable Silica-Based Microring Resonators

open access: yesPhotonics, 2021
A high-Q-factor tunable silica-based microring resonator (MRR) is demonstrated. To meet the critical-coupling condition, a Mach–Zehnder interferometer (MZI) as the tunable coupler was integrated with a racetrack resonator.
