Physics in Technology, 1983
The main advantages of integrated optics devices lie in the inherent simplicity of all-optical systems and high switching speeds (>5 Gbit s-1). The outstanding device problems include the connection of optical fibres to these microcircuits and the integration of many devices on a single chip.

Silicon integrated optical devices
2017 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Pacific Rim (CLEO-PR), 2017In this talk, our recent research on silicon integrated optical devices will be discussed, including the circular Bragg reflector, double slot waveguide based power splitter, and four-wave-mixing based optical isolator with dynamic non-reciprocity.

Integrated bistable optical devices
Applied Physics Letters, 1978We describe several versions of an integrated bistable optical device fabricated with Ti in-diffused waveguides in LiNbO3. The ends of the LiNbO3 crystal are cleaved to form a Fabry-Perot resonator. These devices can be operated with as little as 1 pJ of optical switching energy.

Nonlinear Integrated Optical Devices
SPIE Proceedings, 1985Nonlinear integrated optical devices based on second and third order nonlinearities of Ti:LiNbO3 waveguides are reviewed. Second harmonic and difference frequency generators as well as parametric amplifiers and oscillators are presented as efficient devices for frequency conversion of coherent radiation.

Modeling of integrated optical devices
Annual Meeting Optical Society of America, 1987The design of optimized integrated optical devices requires a detailed understanding of the factors that affect device behavior. Numerical simulation is playing an increasingly important role in providing a complete picture of device behavior and in suggesting the design options that have the best chance of realizing optimum device performance.

Integrated Optics Devices for Optical Communications
1983The field of integrated optics covers the exploration of guided- wave techniques for the construction of new or improved optical device Dielectric waveguides, usually in the form of a planar film or strip of higher refractive index than the substrate, are used to confine the light to very small cross sections over relatively long lengths.

Integrated optic device modeling
SPIE Proceedings, 1994The modern production of integrated optic devices (IOD) is impossible without integration of all its components into a unified system ranging from the coordination of device parameters to their sales. The integration of artificial intelligence methods, microtechnologies and modern communications helps create IODs of quite a new quality.

Semiconductor Integrated Optic Devices
1988This chapter provides an overview of semiconductor integrated optics. The work in this field is motivated in part by the long-term desire to fabricate a variety of components on a common substrate. For example, Figure 6.1 shows a futuristic circuit formed on a direct-gap semiconductor that contains lasers, detectors, waveguides and modulators as well ...

Nonreciprocal devices in integrated optics
Fiber and Integrated Optics, 1989Abstract This article reviews the solutions that have been studied for the implementation of nonreciprocal devices in integrated optics. These components, either isolators or circulators, use the nonreciprocal interaction between light and a magnetic medium.
