Kalman Filter Initialization for Integrated Population Modelling

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Statistical Society Series C: Applied Statistics, 2011
SummaryIn integrated population modelling in ecology, where data from multiple surveys are analysed simultaneously, the Kalman filter may be used to approximate a component likelihood for a state space model of population count data. We evaluate a new method for initiating this Kalman filter, based on a stable age distribution.

Compensatory recruitment, dynamic habitat, and selective gear present challenges to large‐scale invasive species control

open access: yesEcosphere, 2020
Control of long‐established invasive species to aid threatened native species presents major logistic and economic challenges. Invasive common carp (Cyprinus carpio) recently accounted for over 90% of the fish biomass in Utah Lake (Utah, USA), driving ...

Evaluating the Cumulative Effects of Livestock Grazing on Wildlife With an Integrated Population Model

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and Evolution, 2022
Livestock grazing can shape temperate grassland ecosystems, with both positive and negative effects on wildlife documented depending on a variety of grazing and site factors.

Real‐World Pediatric Blinatumomab Administration: Access to Outpatient Care Delivery and Impact of a Hospital‐Dispensed Model

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Blinatumomab has been shown to be highly effective for patients with pediatric B‐ALL and has recently become standard of care therapy. Due to its past use in the clinical trial setting, there is limited information available about real‐world administration.

Estimating recruitment rate and population dynamics at a migratory stopover site using an integrated population model

open access: yesEcosphere, 2023
Consideration of the full annual cycle population dynamics can provide useful insight for conservation efforts, but collecting data needed to estimate demographic parameters is often logistically difficult.

Integrated parameters of star clusters: A comparison of theory and observations

open access: yes, 2010
(Abridged) This paper presents integrated magnitude and colours for synthetic clusters. The integrated parameters have been obtained for the whole cluster population as well as for the main-sequence (MS) population of star clusters.

Clinical Insights Into Hypercalcemia of Malignancy in Childhood

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hypercalcemia of malignancy (HCM) is a rare but life‐threatening metabolic emergency in children that occurs in less than 1% of pediatric cancer cases, with a reported incidence ranging from 0.4% to 1.0% across different studies. While it is observed in 10%–20% of adult malignancies, pediatric HCM remains relatively uncommon.

Long-term demography of a reintroduced population of endangered falcons

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Conservation, 2022
We examined long-term demography of an endangered subspecies, the Northern Aplomado Falcon (Falco femoralis septentrionalis), in South Texas, USA. The population has been managed and monitored since reintroductions began in 1993.

Personalized Selumetinib Dosing in Pediatric Neurofibromatosis Type 1: Insights From a Pilot Therapeutic Drug Monitoring Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate selumetinib exposure using therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) in pediatric patients with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) and plexiform neurofibromas (PN), assess interpatient pharmacokinetic variability, and explore the relationship between drug exposure, clinical response, and adverse effects.
