Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Integrative medicine in Dutch curative and long-term healthcare centres : Mapping the field
Introduction: Little is known about integration of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) in the Dutch healthcare system. The aim of the present study was to investigate how Integrative Medicine (IM) is practiced and how CAM is integrated with ...

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Integrative Medicine: In With the New
Integrative medicine is not "alternative," which implies the substitution of conventional medicine with often unproven natural treatments. Rather, integrative medicine is defined as the combination of conventional biomedicine with nontraditional and ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Meta-analysis in systematic reviews of complementary and integrative medicine trials
© 2017 Elsevier Ltd In evidence-based medicine, meta-analyses are often considered to provide an exceptionally high level of evidence. Beyond other systematic review formats, meta-analyses allow for statistically pooling results of original research ...

Global interest in complementary and integrative medicine (CIM) has risen exponentially over recent decades, with recent research from a number of countries indicating that this interest in CIM may also extend to pregnancy (Frawley et al. 2013).

Integrative Medicine and the Quest for Humanism in Medicine [PDF]
The recent issues of this journal have repeatedly presented considerations on the use and appropriateness of the term ‘integrative medicine’ (IM) and its relatives such as ‘complementary medicine’ (CM), ‘complementary and alternative medicine’ (CAM), ‘integrative and complementary medicine’ (CIM).

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...
