Effect of intensity-modulated radiation therapy on sciatic nerve injury caused by echinococcosis

open access: yesNeural Regeneration Research, 2021
Conventional radiotherapy has a good killing effect on femoral echinococcosis. However, the sciatic nerve around the lesion is irreversibly damaged owing to bystander effects.

A Comparison of Gastrointestinal Toxicities between Intensity-Modulated Radiotherapy and Three-Dimensional Conformal Radiotherapy for Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesGut and Liver, 2016
Background/Aims : Concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) is considered the treatment option for locally advanced pancreatic cancer, but accompanying gastrointestinal toxicities are the most common complication.

Dosimetric Evaluation of Two LINAC-Based Stereotactic Radiosurgery Approaches in the Management of Single Brain Metastasis [PDF]

open access: yesMiddle East Journal of Cancer
Background: Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) relies on precise, highly conformal radiation with sharp dose falloff to protect adjacent normal brain tissue.

Intensity modulated radiation therapy versus volumetric intensity modulated arc therapy [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, 2013
The advanced developments in external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) over the past few decades have improved dose conformity to the target while minimizing dose to the surrounding organs at risk (OAR). Intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) are two commonly used EBRT techniques to treat cancer.

Simultaneous Integrated Boost Versus Sequential Boost Chemoradiotherapy Induced Toxicity and Its Association with Oral Candidiasis in Locally Advanced Head and Neck Cancer

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Microbiology
Chemoradiotherapy for Locally Advanced Head and Neck Cancer (LAHNC) has varied immensely in the last 20 years with the evolution of conformal Radiotherapy techniques.

High-dose Intensity-modulated proton therapy versus Standard-dose Intensity-modulated RadIation therapy for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (HI-SIRI): study protocol for a randomized controlled clinical trial

open access: yesTrials, 2022
Background Chemoradiotherapy is the standard of care for esophageal cancer as a neoadjuvant treatment before surgery, or as a definitive treatment for unresectable disease.

Intensity-modulated proton therapy vs intensity-modulated radiotherapy in nasopharyngeal carcinoma: a case–control studyResearch in context

open access: yesThe Lancet Regional Health. Americas
Summary: Background: Intensity-modulated proton therapy (IMPT) is associated with fewer acute toxicities compared with intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) in definitive treatment of nonmetastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).

Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

Improvements on the planning and delivery of intensity-modulated arc therapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In the past decade, intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) has taken a significant step towards dose conformality and has now become a standard radiotherapy technique in the clinic.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.
