Measurement of structural intensity [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1995
The modeling of structural behavior leads to simplified models of very often complex structures. To get a better understanding of the energy flow inside and out of the structures, the development of measurement methods is very important. Dynamic movements are associated with vibratory and acoustic energy dissipation.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

On the conditional intensity of a random measure [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
summary:We prove the existence of the conditional intensity of a random measure that is absolutely continuous with respect to its mean; when there exists an L$^{p}$-intensity, $p>1$, the conditional intensity is obtained at the same time almost surely ...

Integrated Regional Enstrophy and Block Intensity as a Measure of Kolmogorov Entropy

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2017
Enstrophy in a fluid relates to the dissipation tendency in a fluid that has use in studying turbulent flows. It also corresponds to vorticity as kinetic energy does to velocity.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Content-Based Affective Intensity Recognition Algorithm Using Unascertained Measure

open access: yes, 2010
Affective content recognition is an unsolved technical problem in intricate video retrieval and high-level applications. In this paper , a few video retrieval problems are studied at the view of affective intensity recognition.

MULTI-FEATURE MUTUAL INFORMATION IMAGE REGISTRATION

open access: yesImage Analysis and Stereology, 2012
Nowadays, information-theoretic similarity measures, especially the mutual information and its derivatives, are one of the most frequently used measures of global intensity feature correspondence in image registration.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
