Associations Between Physical Activity Intensities and Physical Function in Stroke Survivors

American Journal of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, 2020
Purpose Impairment caused by stroke is a major cause of disablement in older adults. Physical activity has been shown to improve physical functioning; however, little research has been done to explore how physical activity of different intensities may affect physical function among stroke survivors.

Impact of Moderate-Intensity and Vigorous-Intensity Physical Activity on Mortality

Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, 2018
Physical activity guidelines recommend at least 150 min of moderate-intensity physical activity (MPA), 75 min of vigorous-intensity physical activity (VPA), or combination of MPA and VPA. However, few epidemiological studies have examined whether the general population can derive equal health benefits from MPA or VPA.

Basic Physics for Anaesthesia and Intensive Care

2004
The correct use of sophisticated devices by the anaesthetist for life support and the monitoring of vital functions require the understanding of several basic laws of physics. By way of example, we examine two extremely important topics: the gas laws, which are fundamental for understanding the physiology of respiratory exchange and inhalation ...

Physical Activity Intensity and Risk of Dementia

American Journal of Preventive Medicine
Regular participation in aerobic physical activity is associated with a reduced risk of dementia. It is currently unclear whether this association is due to the total volume or intensity of physical activity. This prospective cohort study analyzed 386,486 adults from the UK Biobank who were free of dementia and self-reported >0 minutes of moderate-to ...

Light-Intensity Physical Activity and Medical Multimorbidity

Southern Medical Journal, 2016
No study has examined the association between objectively measured light-intensity physical activity (LIPA) and multimorbidity (≥2 chronic diseases) in a national sample of US adults. I undertook this examination.Data from the 2005-2006 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey were used (N = 2048 adults 20 years old and older).

Forecasting Bankruptcy and Physical Default Intensity [PDF]

open access: possible, 2007
This report presents two of our investigations: one is to obtain an accurate forecast for the corporate bankruptcy; the other is to obtain a physical default intensity. Both investigations were based on the hazard model, using only firm-specific accounting variables as predictors.

Intensive physical therapy after meniscectomy.

Annales chirurgiae et gynaecologiae, 1977
Fifty six meniscectomy patients were divided into 2 groups. One group (27 patients) was given the standard postoperative physiotherapy and the remainder (29 patients) received intensive physiotherapy. Clinical examination of the knee joint was performed preoperatively and 1, 2 and 4 weeks postoperatively. The patients' age was 36.26 +/- 12.34 and 34.00
