Injectable BMSC‐Based Extracellular Matrix‐Mimicking Microtissue for Myocardial Infarction Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel injectable biomimetic extracellular matrix scaffold (JLSV) is designed for enhanced delivery of bone marrow‐derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs). By utilizing janus basic nanotubes, laminin, stromal‐derived factor‐1 alpha, and vascular endothelial growth factor, this innovative JLSV–BMSC microtissue shows promise in myocardial infarction ...

Interactions of Interaural Time and Level Differences in Spatial Hearing with Cochlear Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Differences in timing (ΔT) are weighted heavily compared to differences in loudness (ΔL) in binaural hearing with cochlear implants. Abstract Normally hearing humans can localize sound sources quite accurately, with minimum audible angles as small as 1°. To achieve this, these auditory pathways combine information from multiple acoustic cues, including

Subventricular Zone‐on‐a‐Chip: A Model to Study Neurogenesis Disruption in Neonatal Intraventricular Hemorrhage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A human subventricular zone‐on‐a‐chip is developed to model intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) in preterm infants. This platform enables the study of inflammation‐driven neurogenic disruption. Exposure to hemorrhagic cerebrospinal fluid and red blood cell lysate activated inflammatory pathways, with IL1B emerging as a key mediator.

Partial Trisomy of Chromosome 13 with a Novel Translocation (8 ; 13) and Unique Clinical Presentation in a Palestinian Infant

open access: yesCase Reports in Medicine, 2019
Partial trisomy 13 is a rare syndrome that usually culminates in death within the first six months of the infant’s life. We present a rare case of partial trisomy 13q with exclusive clinical manifestations.

Advancing Neurologic Care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit With a Neonatal Neurologist [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Child Neurology, 2012
Neonatal neurology is a growing subspecialty area. Given the considerable amount of neurologic problems present in the neonatal intensive care unit, a neurologist with expertise in neonates is becoming more important. We sought to evaluate the change in neurologic care in the neonatal intensive care unit at our tertiary care hospital by having a ...

Risk Factors for Nosocomial Infection in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit by the Japanese Nosocomial Infection Surveillance (JANIS) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We evaluated the infection risks in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) using data of NICU infection surveillance data. The subjects were 871 NICU babies, consisting of 465 boys and 406 girls, who were cared for between June 2002 and January 2003 in ...

Pharmacological Microglial Inhibition Remodels the Scar Microenvironment to Support Reticulospinal Circuit Reconstruction After Spinal Cord Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study establishes pharmacological microglial inhibition as a therapeutic strategy, demonstrating its capacity to remodel the lesion microenvironment through significant reduction of extracellular matrix deposition. This permissive environmental transformation facilitates robust regeneration of the reticulospinal tract, and reconstructs functional ...
