Microscopic aspects of the interacting boson model

Physical Review C, 1991
The variation of the configuration distribution of nucleons is described in a unified way with coherent states expressed by generators of the type of particle-particle pairs. The collective generators are determined from the ground state for deformed nuclei and from the lowest multipole vibrations for spherical nuclei. The general effective Hamiltonian

Structure of the actinides by the interacting boson model

Physical Review C, 1985
The interacting boson model is able to reproduce the elusive two-particle-transfer data in the actinides (uranium and thorium). The same calculation also reproduces well the energy systematics and the B(E2) data.

Subbarrier fusion in the interacting boson model

Physical Review C, 1992
A method is given for calculating the heavy ion subbarrier fusion cross section for nuclei which are described by the interacting boson model. Explicit formulas are given for the case when the target is rotational, including both quadrupole and hexadecapole couplings.

Interacting boson model with surface delta interaction between nucleons: Structure and interaction of bosons

Physical Review C, 1986
The surface delta interaction is used as an effective nucleon-nucleon interaction to investigate the structure and interaction of the bosons in the interacting boson model. We have obtained analytical expressions for the coefficients of a multipole expansion of the neutron-boson-proton-boson interaction for the case of degenerate orbits.

The interacting boson model—a review

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1985
The interacting boson model is first defined mathematically and then its two possible physical interpretations are discussed. The role of the neutron/proton degree of freedom is described. Brief mention is made of the extension to odd nuclei and finally an example of the mapping from a shell model calculation onto tne IBM is given.

The Interacting Boson Model

1987
The interacting boson model was introduced in 1974 as an attempt to describe collective properties of nuclei in a unified way. Since 1974, the model has been the subject of many investigations and it has been extended to cover most aspects of nuclear structure. This book gives an account of the properties of the interacting boson model.

Shell Model Structure of the Interacting Boson Model and the Interacting Boson Fermion Model

1982
Nuclei are very complex systems composed of a large number of strongly interacting protons and neutrons. One could expect that such systems will have extremely complicated and unwieldy level spectra. However, in spite of their complexity, nuclei exhibit remarkably simple regularities which make their spectra interesting objects of research.

g-boson excitations in the interacting boson model

Nuclear Physics A, 1983
Abstract We have extended the interacting boson model (IBM) by including the g-boson degree of freedom. Schematic model calculations have been carried out in the two different limits: SU(5) and O(6). Particular applications have been carried out for 104 Ru, a nucleus intermediate between SU(5) and O(6).

Test of a projection method from the interacting boson model-2 to the interacting boson model-1

Physical Review C, 1988
Projection formulas from the interacting boson model-2 to the interacting boson model-1 are given for a rather general class of operators and numerical tests of these formulas were carried out with the corresponding codes. Agreement of energies and B(E2) values of the interacting boson model-2 calculations with those of the interacting boson model-1 ...

RELATION OF THE INTERACTING BOSON MODEL TO THE SHELL MODEL

Nuclear Physics A, 1980
Abstract A microscopic foundation of the interacting boson model is discussed from the shell model point of view. The Ginocchio model and the single j-shell model are taken to study various approximations for deriving the boson Hamiltonian. In the neutron-proton interacting boson model, we show the importance of the coupling to non-collective states
