The ISM in the z = 6.9 Interacting Galaxies of SPT0311-58
SPT0311-58, a system of two interacting galaxies in the Epoch of Reionization, exists in one of the rarest, most massive dark matter halos theoretically possible in that era.

The Radio Emission of Interacting Galaxies [PDF]
Gravitational interaction is a straightforward interpretation of some of the peculiar optical morphologies shown by galaxies. There have also been attempts to study the effects of a gravitational interaction on the radio continuum emission. Statistically, the central radio sources (inner 1 kpc) in interacting spiral galaxies are about three times ...

Central star formation and metallicity in CALIFA interacting galaxies
We use optical integral-field spectroscopic (IFS) data from 103 nearby galaxies at different stages of the merging event, from close pairs to merger remnants provided by the CALIFA survey, to study the impact of the interaction in the specific star ...

Hidden Interaction in SBO galaxies [PDF]
Galaxies, like plants, show a large variety of grafts: an individual of some type connects physically with a neighborhood of same or different type. The effects of these interactions between galaxies have a broad range of morphologies depending, among other quantities, on the distance of the closest approach between systems and the relative size of the

The Larson-Tinsley Effect in the UV: Interacting vs. `Normal' Spiral Galaxies
We compare the UV-optical colors of a well-defined set of optically-selected pre-merger interacting galaxy pairs with those of normal spirals. The shorter wavelength colors show a larger dispersion for the interacting galaxies than for the spirals.

GOALS-JWST: Revealing the Buried Star Clusters in the Luminous Infrared Galaxy VV 114
We present the results of a James Webb Space Telescope NIRCam investigation into the young massive star cluster (YMC) population in the luminous infrared galaxy VV 114.

A Comparative Study of Knots of Star Formation in Interacting vs. Spiral Galaxies
Interacting galaxies are known to have higher global rates of star formation on average than normal galaxies, relative to their stellar masses. Using UV and IR photometry combined with new and published H-alpha images, we have compared the star formation

Rotation curves and metallicity gradients from HII regions in spiral galaxies [PDF]
In this paper we study long slit spectra in the region of H$\alpha$ emission line of a sample of 111 spiral galaxies with recognizable and well defined spiral morphology and with a well determined environmental status, ranging from isolation to non ...

Gasdynamics and Starbursts in Interacting Galaxies [PDF]
The onset of gaseous inflows and central activity in interacting galaxies is driven largely by induced bars in the host galaxies. The stability of galaxies against growing bar modes is a direct function of their structural properties — galaxies with central bulges or low disk surface densities are more stable against central starbursts than are ...
