Interacting Rydberg atoms on a chip [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Due to their extreme properties, Rydberg atoms are interesting candidates for applications in quantum information science. Their large, tunable, interactions, for one, can be switched on and off at will with a laser pulse, enabling the generation of ...

Powering Nanocrystal‐Based Heat Engines With Light‐Emitting Metasurfaces That Influence Their Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metasurfaces and other structured photonic environments can dramatically modify the absorption and/or light emission of semiconductors. However, the consequences of these changes on the temperature of the system are not well understood. The authors address this problem for colloidal nanocrystals and leverage their findings to convert light into ...

Monitored long-range interacting systems: spin-wave theory for quantum trajectories

open access: yesNature Communications
Measurement-induced phases exhibit unconventional dynamics as emergent collective phenomena, yet their behavior in tailored interacting systems – crucial for quantum technologies – remains less understood.

Robust control and preservation of quantum steering, nonlocality, and coherence in open atomic systems

open access: yesOpen Physics
We investigate the robustness of Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen (EPR) steering, nonlocality, and quantum coherence in a bipartite atomic system coupled to cavity fields under the influence of decoherence.

Coherent two photon excitation within an extended cloud of Rubidium 85 for the purposes of atomic interferometry and cooling

open access: yes, 2011
Cold atom samples, at temperatures of the order 100 µK, are useful for a wide reaching array of new and exciting technological and scientific endeavours. Atoms are conventionally cooled by Doppler cooling, which relies on the continuous absorption and re-

Controlled Engineering of 2D Alkali‐Iron‐Chloride Compounds and Lateral Quantum Heterostructures Within Confined Graphene Nanoreactors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a programmable atomic engineering strategy for 2D materials using Å‐scale nanoreactors formed by bilayer graphene (BLG) intercalation. A new class of alkali‐iron‐chloride compounds, along with lateral heterostructures composed of monolayer alkali halides and iron chlorides, is revealed.

Cooperative interactions in dense thermal Rb vapour confined in nm-scale cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This thesis presents an investigation of the fundamental interaction between light and matter, realised with a rubidium vapour confined in a cell whose thickness (in the propagation direction) is less than the optical wavelength.

Nanobody‐Conjugated Theranostic Prodrug Targeting αvβ3 Integrin Enables Precision Cancer Therapy With Real‐Time Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The image shows a schematic form a nanobody‐conjugated theranostic prodrug (NBD) platform targeting tumor‐associated αvβ3 integrin. The NBD system integrates selective nanobody‐mediated tumor recognition, glutathione‐responsive disulfide cleavage for doxorubicin release, and aza‐BODIPY‐based near‐infrared fluorescence for real‐time imaging.
