Single-atom imaging of fermions in a quantum-gas microscope

open access: yes, 2015
The authors acknowledge support by EU (ERC-StG FERMILATT, SIQS, Marie Curie Fellowship to E.H.), EPSRC, Scottish Universities Physics Alliance (SUPA).Single-atom-resolved detection in optical lattices using quantum-gas microscopes has enabled a new ...

Rabi oscillations and entanglement between two atoms interacting by the Rydberg blockade studied by the Jaynes–Cummings Model

open access: yesPhysics Open
The interaction between atoms and a quantized radiation field is fundamentally important in quantum optics and quantum information science. Due to their unusual properties, Rydberg atoms are promising building blocks for two-qubit gates and atom-light ...

Method of canonical transformations in the theory of quantum gases interacting with radiation

open access: yesCondensed Matter Physics
An approach to the theoretical study of effects and phenomena in quantum gases interacting with radiation is proposed. The approach is based on a modification of the canonical transformation method, which was once used to diagonalize Hamiltonians ...

Quantum-optical magnets with competing short- and long-range interactions: Rydberg-dressed spin lattice in an optical cavity

open access: yesSciPost Physics, 2016
The fields of quantum simulation with cold atoms [1] and quantum optics [2] are currently being merged. In a set of recent pathbreaking experiments with atoms in optical cavities [3,4] lattice quantum many-body systems with both, a short-range ...

Strongly correlated Fermions strongly coupled to light

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
Atom-photon interaction and their coupling are important to understand correlated and quantum matter. Here the authors show strong coupling between degenerate interacting Fermi gas of 6Li atoms and photons.

Coherent Many-Body Spin Dynamics in a Long-Range Interacting Ising Chain

open access: yesPhysical Review X, 2017
Coherent many-body quantum dynamics lies at the heart of quantum simulation and quantum computation. Both require coherent evolution in the exponentially large Hilbert space of an interacting many-body system. To date, trapped ions have defined the state

Weak-measurement-induced heating in Bose-Einstein condensates

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2023
Ultracold atoms are an ideal platform for understanding system-reservoir dynamics of many-body systems. Here, we study quantum back-action in atomic Bose-Einstein condensates, weakly interacting with a far-from resonant, i.e., dispersively interacting ...

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Low temperature transport and evidence for nuclear order in GaAs Quantum Wires [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this thesis we focus on low temperature transport through cleaved edge overgrowth (CEO) quantum wires. This thesis is motivated by recent theoretical work on one hand that predicts the formation of a nuclear helimagnet in presence of a Luttinger ...

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...
