Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

The arts of lobbying: Scrutinizing the functions of interactional meta-discourse in Model United Nations conferences [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
This study explores how speakers use interactional markers in the diplomatic speech Model United Nations Conference. We used a discourse analysis approach focusing on the meta-discourse markers; the analyzed data comes from the speech utterances based on

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

INTERACTIONAL METADISCOURSE MARKERS IN DISCUSSION SECTION OF SUCCESSFUL UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS THESES

open access: yes, 2023
Interactional metadiscourse has a very significant role in writing. Instead of merely providing information to the readers, interactional metadiscourse helps the writer to communicate their ideas in a way that readers are familiar with and they can ...

Disrupted network interactions serve as a neural marker of dyslexia

open access: yesCommunications Biology, 2023
AbstractDyslexia, a frequent learning disorder, is characterized by severe impairments in reading and writing and hypoactivation in reading regions in the left hemisphere. Despite decades of research, it remains unclear to date if observed behavioural deficits are caused by aberrant network interactions during reading and whether differences in ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Imperceptible AR Markers for Near-Screen Mobile Interaction [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Owing to the pervasive use of displays and smartphones, mobile interactions with display screens have gained attention within the advertising and gaming industries as well as in human-computer interaction research. Communication through QR code-like markers and localization via AR markers are common examples of such interactions. However, these visible

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.
