A theoretical analysis of sound localisation, with application to amplitude panning

open access: yes, 2015
Below 700Hz sound fields can be approximated well over a region of space that encloses the human head, using the acoustic pressure and gradient. With this representation convenient expressions are found for the resulting Interaural Time Difference (ITD ...

Low-frequency sound source localization as a function of closed acoustic spaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Further development of an emerging generalized theory of low-frequency sound localization in closed listening spaces is presented that aims to resolve the ambiguities inherent in previous research.

Learning to discriminate interaural time differences

open access: yes, 2006
Three experiments were undertaken on learning to discriminate ‘ongoing’ ITD at low and high frequencies, the latter using amplitude-modulated tones.  In Experiment 1, ability improved substantially with training using high-frequency stimuli associated with fused or unfused percepts.  This was in apparent contrast with the findings of the previous study

Differences in auditory mismatch negativity and global functional connectivity caused by interaural time differences

open access: yesEye & ENT Research
Our ability to localize low‐frequency sounds relies on interaural time differences (ITD), a sensitivity that is fundamental to our ability to pinpoint sound sources in azimuth and segregate competing sound sources across a wide range of situations ...
