Interband cascade lasers with longer wavelengths

While much of the previous work on interband cascade lasers (ICLs) has been limited to the 3-4 μm spectral range, it was recently demonstrated at NRL and elsewhere that the low threshold current and power densities characteristic of ICLs can be extended to longer wavelengths.

Tunable External Cavity Interband Cascade Laser

We present a study of the tunability of an external cavity interband cascade laser. This tunable mid-IR light source has a broad tuning range of 300 nm (208 cm-1) around 3.8 mum with a peak output power of 2 mW in the pulsed mode.

Interband cascade laser photon noise

We report measurements of the low-frequency photon noise and the relative intensity noise of an interband cascade laser as a function of laser current at 30 and 100 K. Interband cascade lasers: progress and outlook

Type-II Interband cascade lasers combine interband optical transitions with interband tunneling to enable the cascading of type-II quantum well active regions. This combination allows for low threshold current densities and high external slope efficiencies, both of which are important for high temperature, high power operation.

Methane Measurements with Interband Cascade Lasers
