Intercalation of AlCl3 into FeCl3-graphite intercalation compounds and occurrence of BI-intercalation

Carbon, 1993
Abstract The formation process of the ternary AlCl 3 -FeCl 3 -graphite intercalation compounds (GICs) was studied by using three different reaction paths at 150°C. In the reaction of stage 1, FeCl 3 -GICs with AlCl 3 , the exchange of intercalated FeCl 3 for AlCl 3 occurred and, consequently, the formation of the “mixed”-type ternary GIC was ...

Intercalate structure in halogen-intercalated graphite

Synthetic Metals, 1989
Abstract Highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG), intercalated with the interhalogen molecules ICl and IBr, was investigated by x-ray absorption spectroscopy. From the polarization dependent near-edge (NEXAFS) and extended (EXAFS) x-ray absorption fine structure observed at the ClK, IL I,III , and BrK thresholds, we derive information on the ...

Intercalation Assembly Method and Intercalation Process Control of Layered Intercalated Functional Materials

Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2013
Layered intercalated functional materials of layered double hydroxide type are an important class of functional materials developed in recent years. Based on long term studies on these materials in the State Key Laboratory of Chemical Resource Engineering in Beijing University of Chemical Technology, the principle for the design of controlled ...

Intercalators as Anticancer Drugs

Current Pharmaceutical Design, 2001
Intercalators are the most important group of compounds that interact reversibly with the DNA double helix. Some of them are valuable drugs currently used for the treatment of ovarian and breast cancers and acute leukemias, while many others are in different phases of clinical trials.

Harnessing DNA intercalation

Trends in Biotechnology, 2007
Numerous small molecules are known to bind to DNA through base pair intercalation. Fluorescent dyes commonly used for nucleic acid staining, such as ethidium, are familiar examples. Biological and physical studies of DNA intercalation have historically been motivated by mutation and drug discovery research.

Alprazolam Intercalates into DNA

Journal of Biomolecular Structure and Dynamics, 2009
In vitro interaction of a benzodiazepine group of drugs Alprazolam (Alp), a hypnotic and tranquilizer, with DNA was studied by various methods. Absorption spectrophotometric study showed that Alp binds strongly with supercoiled pUC 19 DNA and the calculated binding constant is 8.245x10(3) M(-1) in 10 mM Tris-Cl buffer, pH 7.4. Spectrofluorometric study

An octakis-intercalating molecule

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 2001
Herein we report the synthesis and characterization of a polyintercalator with eight potential intercalating l,4,5,8-naphthalenetetracarboxylic diimide (NDI) units linked in a head-to-tail arrangement via a peptide linker. UV spectroscopy and viscometry measurements indicated the molecule binds to double-stranded DNA with all eight NDI units ...

Lithium intercalation in LixZrS2

Solid State Communications, 1984
We report electrochemical and x-ray diffraction studies of LixZrS2. lT-ZrS2 undergoes a reversible first order transition to the 3R polytype when intercalated with lithium. Co-existing 1T and 3R phases are observed for 0.01 ± 0.01 < x < 0.23 ± 0.01.

Intercalation of Benzamide into Kaolinite

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2000
Well-crystallized kaolinite (K) was initially reacted at 60 degrees C with a water/dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) mixture and the resulting intercalation derivative (K-DMSO) was characterized by powder X-ray diffractometry (PXRD), thermal analysis (simultaneous TG and DSC), and Fourier-transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR).
