Sono‐Mechanogenetics: Linking Ultrasound Physics With Cellular Mechanobiology

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sono‐mechanogenetics links ultrasound physics with cellular mechanotransduction to enable noninvasive control of engineered biological systems. Acoustic forces generate distinct deformation modes that activate intracellular signaling pathways, which can be coupled to synthetic gene circuits to regulate diverse cellular functions, including gene ...

Secreted Nonstructural Protein 3 is a Pathogenic Determinant of Orbivirus

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uncovers a conserved PIP2‐dependent secretory pathway of orbivirus NS3 that induces vascular leakage. Pharmacological disruption of PIP2‐NS3 interaction significantly reduces viral pathogenicity and provides protective efficacy in murine models, establishing PIP2‐mediated NS3 secretion as both a key virulence determinant and a promising ...

Chitosan‐Carbon Dot Composite Materials Form a Leaf Surface Barrier to Mitigate the Enrichment and Invasion of Nanoplastics: From Leaf Interface to Systemic Response

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Foliar spraying of CS‐CDs can form a film on the leaves of Brassica rapa, effectively reducing the enrichment and absorption of PS in the leaves, while increasing the biomass and nutrient content of the plants. In addition, CS‐CDs can also enrich the interfoliar microbial community and activate the plant's own defense metabolic pathways.

Mechanically Triggered DNA Nanovehicles for Targeted Dual‐Drug Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A mechanically triggered DNA nanovehicle is introduced that co‐releases two anticancer drugs in response to integrin‐mediated cellular forces. Cholesterol‐anchored DNA assemblies undergo force‐induced unfolding at cell–cell junctions, enabling selective, localized dual‐drug activation in cancer cells while minimizing off‐target toxicity in low‐tension ...

A Dual‐Functional Biohybrid Nanorobot to Synergistically Eradicate Biofilm and Degrade Antibiotic Resistance Genes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A biohybrid nanorobot integrating lytic bacteriophage N4 with Pd nanozymes is developed for targeted eradication of multidrug‐resistant E. coli biofilms. Synergistic bacterial lysis and ROS‐mediated oxidation enable simultaneous biofilm removal and antibiotic resistance genes degradation, maintaining high efficacy in complex wastewater environments ...

Intercellular adhesion molecule-1

Journal of Molecular Medicine, 1996
The intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM) 1 is an Ig-like cell adhesion molecule expressed by several cell types, including leukocytes and endothelial cells. It can be induced in a cell-specific manner by several cytokines, for example, tumor necrosis factor-alpha, interleukin-1, and interferon-gamma, and inhibited by glucocorticoids.

INTERCELLULAR ADHESION MOLECULE 1 ON LIVER ALLOGRAFTS DURING REJECTION

The Lancet, 1989
The expression of intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1), a ligand for the leucocyte adhesion receptor lymphocyte-function-associated antigen 1 (LFA-1), was studied on liver tissue after transplantation. There was greater ICAM-1 expression on bile ducts, endothelium, and perivenular hepatocytes (structures affected by the rejection process) in ...

Intercellular Adhesion Molecule‐1 in the Heart

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2002
Abstract:Intercellular adhesion molecule‐1 (ICAM‐1) belongs to the superfamily of immunoglobulin‐like adhesion molecules. Up‐regulation of ICAM‐1 occurs in many different pathophysiological processes. Also, cardiomyocytes can express ICAM‐1—for example, in acute myocardial infarction.

Soluble intercellular adhesion molecule 1 in spondylarthropathies

Clinical Rheumatology, 1998
The aim of the study was to evaluate the soluble form of intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (sICAM-1), a ligand of LFA-1, in the serum of patients with spondylarthropathies (SpA) and to look for a correlation with several inflammatory parameters.

Intercellular adhesion molecule-1 clusters during osteoclastogenesis

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2009
Adhesion between osteoblasts and osteoclast precursors is established via an interaction involving intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) on osteoblasts and leukocyte function-associated antigen-1 (LFA-1) on osteoclast precursors. The latter cells also express ICAM-1, but little is known about the expression over time and its possible role during ...
