Intercellular Adhesion Molecule-1 (ICAM-1, CD54) Is Increased in Adhesive Capsulitis

The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery-American Volume, 2013
The purpose of this study was to investigate the presence of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) in shoulders with adhesive capsulitis ("frozen shoulder").Glenohumeral capsular tissue was obtained from twenty-six patients (seventeen with adhesive capsulitis and nine controls), and ICAM-1 was evaluated with use of oligonucleotide arrays, real ...

Circulating intercellular adhesion molecule-1 levels and neutrophil adhesion in stroke

Journal of Neuroimmunology, 1993
To examine whether changes in leukocyte adhesion properties occur during stroke, we measured circulating serum intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (cICAM-1) levels and neutrophil adhesion in acute stroke, patients at high risk of stroke, and in matched controls.

Serum intercellular adhesion molecule-1 levels and histologic chorioamnionitis

Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2000
To compare the diagnostic value of intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM)-1 with that of C-reactive protein (CRP) and white blood cell (WBC) count for detecting histologic chorioamnionitis in serum of women with preterm labor.Maternal blood was collected from 97 consecutive women admitted with preterm delivery before 37 weeks' gestation, and 50 women ...

Expression of intercellular adhesion molecule‐1 and vascular cell adhesion molecule‐1 in human crescentic glomerulonephritis

Histopathology, 2002
Expression of intercellular adhesion molecule‐1 and vascular cell adhesion molecule‐1 in human crescentic glomerulonephritisAims:  In glomerulonephritis, intercellular adhesion molecule‐1 (ICAM‐1) and vascular cell adhesion molecule‐1 (VCAM‐1) may play important roles in the formation of crescents.

Alterations in soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 and vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 in hemodialysis patients

American Journal of Kidney Diseases, 1996
Hemodialysis (HD) patients can develop acute reactions during treatment as well as increased long-term susceptibility to infections and malignancies. Abnormalities in leukocyte adhesion may contribute to these processes. Recently, serum levels of soluble adhesion molecules have been detected in circulating blood of normal subjects and in patients with ...

The role of intercellular adhesion molecule‐1 in chronic airway inflammation

Clinical & Experimental Allergy, 1992
SummaryWe have examined the role of intercellular adhesion molecule‐1 (ICAM‐1) in chronic airway inflammation and airway hyperresponsiveness in a primate model of asthma. Airway cellular composition was assessed by bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) and airway responsiveness was measured as the bronchoconstrictor response to inhaled methacholine.

Soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1): an overview.

European cytokine network, 2004
Soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1) represents a circulating form of ICAM-1 that is constitutively expressed or is inducible on the cell surface of different cell lines. It serves as a counter-receptor for the lymphocyte function-associated antigen (LFA-1).

Intercellular adhesion molecule-1 gene polymorphisms in Behçet's Disease.

The Journal of rheumatology, 2001
Intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1) is strongly expressed in vascular endothelial cells and perivascular inflammatory infiltrates in immunopathologic studies of Behçet's disease (BD) lesions. ICAM-1 genes may contribute to the inflammatory events responsible for the vessel damage in BD.
