Recent global decline in rainfall interception loss due to altered rainfall regimes [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Canopy rainfall interception (E i ) is a key component of global water cycle. Here, the authors quantify E i using flux tower data and machine learning, and find that rainfall gets less partitioned into E i as it gets more intense and less frequent.

Modeling vegetation interception under natural rainfall in yerba mate production systems [PDF]

open access: yesRBRH, 2023
Interception loss plays an important role in rainfall partitioning, retaining significant amounts of water that would be directed to the soil. In this work, the objective was to measure interception by vegetation and evaluate the Rutter and Gash models ...

Revisiting large-scale interception patterns constrained by a synthesis of global experimental data [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2022
Rainfall interception loss remains one of the most uncertain fluxes in the global water balance, hindering water management in forested regions and precluding an accurate formulation in climate models.

A Preliminary Study on Rainfall Interception Loss and Water Yield Analysis on Arabica Coffee Plants in Central Aceh Regency, Indonesia

open access: yesAceh International Journal of Science and Technology, 2012
- Rainfall interception loss from plants or trees can reduce a net rainfall as source of water yield. The amount of rainfall interception loss depends on kinds of plants and hydro-meteorological characteristics.

Investigation of process of interception in beech-fir stand on mountain Goch [PDF]

open access: yesGlasnik Šumarskog Fakulteta: Univerzitet u Beogradu, 2002
Part of the precipitation is intercepted by vegetation before reaching the ground. The portion of intercepted water, which is retained in storage of the vegetal cover and evaporates, is called the interception loss.

Rainfall interception loss by corn crop

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
Abstract One factor that influences the water balance on earth is the presence of the rain factors. The Hydrological cycle is a process of water that is evaporated and if the atmosphere allows, water will fall as rain. Interception is an important factor in the hydrological cycle. With the process of interception, rain water that reaches

Effect of initial plant density on modeling accuracy of the revised sparse Gash model: a case study of Pinus tabuliformis plantations in northern China

open access: yesHydrology Research, 2020
An accurate quantitative description of interception is necessary to understand regional water circulation. The revised sparse Gash model (RSGM) is currently used to estimate interception loss.

Mapping rainfall interception for assessing ecological restoration sustainability in China

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2022
Ecological restoration (ER) programs play an important role in local and global climate change and carbon management policy interventions. Water resource is a key criterion for assessing the sustainability of ERs.

Quantifying the effect of non-spatial and spatial forest stand structure on rainfall partitioning in mountain forests, Southern China

open access: yesThe Forestry Chronicle, 2018
Forest stand structure plays an important role in rainfall interception and is a focal point in forest hydrology. Previous studies mainly looked at the effect of non-spatial attributes of stands while a few studies addressed the influence of spatial ...

Modeling the Characteristics of Interception Loss in Forests.

open access: yesJournal of Japan Society of Hydrology and Water Resources, 2002
