Modelling of rainfall interception loss in agroforestry systems
Agroforestry Systems, 1991Two models of interception loss have been tested against new field data obtained in widely-spaced stands of Sitka spruce trees. The Gash model and a modified version of the Rutter model, have been used with data from an automatic weather station, to predict interception loss using parameters obtained from observations made in 1988 and 1989.

Field studies were conducted for the purpose of measuring interception loss from an actively transpiring grass cover. Continuous records of evapotranspiration were obtained from a pair of floating lysimeters in a grass field. The grass cover on and around each lysimeter was sprinkled alternately.

Annual interception loss estimation with a simple equation
2012 IEEE Symposium on Humanities, Science and Engineering Research, 2012This study was designed to evaluate a simple equation to estimate an annual interception lost. To design the equation, the input of the equation was modified to a very high resolution data. Statistical relationship between precipitation, temporal resolution and rainfall intensity was determined.

Abstract In a semi-arid plant community dominated by the Tamaulipan matorral of north-eastern Mexico the quantitative importance of interception loss and the applicability of the Gash analytical rainfall interception loss model were evaluated. Interception loss was estimated from measurements of incident precipitation and throughfall.

A note on the interception loss equation
Journal of Geophysical Research, 1960Interception is the process in which precipitation is caught by a vegetative canopy and redistributed to the ground, to the atmosphere, or into the plant. Interception loss is that portion of the precipitation which is returned to the atmosphere through evaporation from plant surfaces or is absorbed into the plant.

Rainfall Interception Loss by Forest Canopies
2011When rain falls onto a forest a proportion is intercepted by the canopy and evaporates back into the atmosphere, playing no further part in the terrestrial portion of the hydrologic cycle. This canopy interception loss, I c, can be appreciable (Table 20.1).

Abstract Interception, throughfall and stemflow were determined in an 18-year-old maritime pine stand for a period of 30 months. This involved 71 rainfall events, each corresponding either to a single storm or to several storms. Gash's analytical model of interception was used to estimate the sensitivity of interception to canopy structure and ...

Research on Interception Losses and Soil Moisture Relationships
1988Few scientists understand better than H. L. Penman (1963) the complexity of finding out what happens to the rain: “With few exceptions, they [i.e., field measurements] involve small differences between large quantities (of water) that cannot be measured with precision—rainfall, interception, surface runoff, streamflow, soil water content, stored ...

THROUGHFALL, STEMFLOW AND INTERCEPTION LOSS OF OLD RUBBER TREES
Malaysian Journal of Civil Engineering, 2018An interception study of old rubber trees was carried out in Skudai, Johor. Out of 35 rainfall events recorded, only 28 produced measurable throughfall and stemflow. Throughfall and stemflow comprised 87% and 1.1% of the total rainfall, respectively. These resulted in interception loss of 12.1% of the rainfall.
