Computer network interconnection
Computer Networks (1976), 1978Abstract This report examines the current situation regarding the interconnection of computer networks, especially packet switched networks (PSNs). Four major types of interconnections are surveyed: 1. 1. Circuit Switched Network to PSN 2. 2. Star Network to PSN 3. 3. Simple Terminal to PSN 4. 4.

Reflective interconnection networks
Computers & Electrical Engineering, 1994Abstract In this paper, a class of single-sided multiprocessor multistage interconnection networks (MINs), which we call ‘reflective’ networks, is proposed. A common characteristic of reflective networks is that as requests pass through the network, at some point they are reflected back to the same side rather than passed to the opposite side as in ...

IEEE Internet Computing, 2001
The Internet is rife with paradox. For example, new optical switches capable of forwarding terabits of data (in photonic format) must work with a decades-old protocol suite first developed for software-controlled electronic packet switches. Another example is that while IP multicast offers by far the most efficient delivery vehicle for large-scale ...

Building interconnected membrane networks
2015Reconstituted replica cell membranes are easily created by contacting two lipid-monolayer-encased aqueous droplets under an oil phase. Called the droplet interface bilayer (DIB), this technique has been used to study a wide range of membrane processes.

Scalable Interconnection Networks
2009A modern supercomputer or large-scale server consists of a huge set of components that perform processing functions and various forms of input/output and memory functions. All of the components unite in a complex collaboration to perform the tasks of the entire system.

Systolic interconnection network
Proceedings of MELECON '94. Mediterranean Electrotechnical Conference, 2002In this paper, a log/sub 2/N-stage self-routing rearrangeable network with N inputs/outputs is presented. A self-routing algorithm called the breadth-first destination tag routing algorithm is proposed to realize any permutation of N inputs in a pipelined fashion.

Optical Interconnection Networks
1997Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the optical interconnection networks. Ongoing advances in high-speed integrated circuit device technology along with increasing demand in data communication, digital signal and image processing, neural network, and machine vision systems necessitate the design of efficient interconnections topology.

Asymmetric Network Interconnection
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2001We develop a model of competition between interconnected networks, that allows for carriers to differ in size. Under two-part pricing, we show that because of asymmetry the larger network will always prefer a reciprocal interconnection charge be set at cost. For sufficiently large asymmetry the smaller network will have the same preference. The results

Comparing interconnection networks
2005We review results on embedding network and program structures into popular parallel computer structures. Such embeddings can be viewed as high level descriptions of efficient methods to simulate an algorithm designed for one type of architecture on a different network structure and/or techniques to distribute data/program variables to achieve optimum ...

Multiservice Interconnection Networks
1995Up to this point we have ignored connection performance across the switches, focusing instead on connection blocking owing to the finite transmission resources. In this chapter we take a closer look at the connection performance of ATM switches.
