Dependence of the Intercore Crosstalk Decorrelation Bandwidth on the Skew in Weakly-Coupled Multicore Fibers with Multiple Interferers

We investigate the equivalent autocovariance of the intercore crosstalk (ICXT) in multicore fibers with multiple interferers. We show that the decorrelation bandwidth of the ICXT is proportional to the inverse of the skew between cores.

Adaptive modulation-enabled DD-OFDM multicore fiber transmission impaired by intercore crosstalk

Adaptive DD-OFDM transmission is proposed for low-cost deployment of homogenous MCF links where ICXT can cause outage probabilities. Experimental demonstration shows a throughput gain relative to the static modulation of 13% and high ICXT tolerance with a reduction of the average throughput of only 9% relative to the situation measured without ICXT.
