Probability Distribution of Intercore Crosstalk in Weakly Coupled MCFs with Multiple Interferers
2019 IEEE Photonics Conference (IPC), 2019The statistical behavior of the intercore crosstalk (ICXT) power in weakly coupled multicore fibers (MCFs) with multiple interfering cores is experimentally assessed. The histograms with multiple interfering cores are compared with the probability density function (pdf) of the quadratic form corresponding to the ICXT power considering different ...

A time-varying phase shift associated with each phase matching point of homogeneous weakly coupled multicore fibers is proposed to describe the stochastic time evolution of the intercore crosstalk (ICXT) observed experimentally. This model for the stochastic ICXT time evolution represents a generalization of current ICXT theoretical models and ...

Statistical Distribution and Correlation Properties of Intercore Crosstalk in Weakly-Coupled MCFs
2018 Asia Communications and Photonics Conference (ACP), 2018We show experimentally that the intercore crosstalk (ICXT) power induced by multiple interferers in weakly-coupled multicore fibers is well modeled by a chi-square distribution with four degrees of freedom and by uncorrelated ICXT field components.

The impact of intercore crosstalk (ICXT) of weakly-coupled multicore fibers (MCFs) on the transmission performance of a Common Public Radio Interface (CPRI) signal in 5G networks fronthaul is studied by numerical simulation. The results show that forward error correction-supported CPRI signals have more tolerance to ICXT due to the higher targeted bit ...

We investigate the equivalent autocovariance of the intercore crosstalk (ICXT) in multicore fibers with multiple interferers. We show that the decorrelation bandwidth of the ICXT is proportional to the inverse of the skew between cores.

Comparison of Intercore-Crosstalk Sources for Multicore Fibre in Recirculating Loop Transmission
2020 Opto-Electronics and Communications Conference (OECC), 2020The use of amplified spontaneous emission noise, synchronously recirculating signals and asynchronous signals from two transmitters are compared. Synchronously recirculating signals taken from the channel under test are seen to pessimistically estimate system performance.

Adaptive modulation-enabled DD-OFDM multicore fiber transmission impaired by intercore crosstalk
2017 Opto-Electronics and Communications Conference (OECC) and Photonics Global Conference (PGC), 2017Adaptive DD-OFDM transmission is proposed for low-cost deployment of homogenous MCF links where ICXT can cause outage probabilities. Experimental demonstration shows a throughput gain relative to the static modulation of 13% and high ICXT tolerance with a reduction of the average throughput of only 9% relative to the situation measured without ICXT.

Estimation of Stochastic Intercore Crosstalk in Homogeneous MCF Based on Gaussian Filtering
2018 20th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2018We propose simple model of stochastic intercore crosstalk (ICTX) in which the time dependency is included by Gaussian filtering of random phase shifts (RPS) introduced in known discrete changes model of inter-core crosstalk in real homogeneous multi-core fibers (MCF). Numerical simulations have been performed to verify proposed model and good agreement
