The interdiffusion of uranium and aluminium
Journal of Nuclear Energy (1954), 1956Abstract Results are given of measurements of the width, as a function of temperature and pressure, of the diffusion zone formed by the interdiffusion of uranium and aluminium and of the relative penetration of uranium into aluminium and of aluminium into uranium.

Interdiffusion in Ionic Compounds
Diffusion Foundations, 2016In this chapter, we review the Nernst-Planck equation describing the cation interdiffusion coefficient, the two tracer cation diffusion coefficients and the thermodynamic factor in ionic compounds and how it is related to the analogous Darken-Manning relationship in binary alloy systems.

Interdiffusion in Metallic Layers
MRS Proceedings, 1990AbstractThe atomic structure of ion-sputtered Fe/Ti multilayers with an average composition FeTi2 is studied by high resolution electron microscopy. A systematic use of diffractometry is made to measure the local parameter change as well as to recognise the crystalline phase.

Theory of Interdiffusion in Solids
Defect and Diffusion Forum, 2006Traditional theories of interdiffusion in solids based on Fick’s first and second laws and Darken’s equations can not describe the relationship between the diffusion fluxes and the diffusion-induced stresses, because the subject matter of the traditional theories is the diffusing atom or atomic flux, not the volume unit within the interdiffusion field.

Interdiffusion in polymer mixtures
2007It is shown that the two exponential modes in the dynamic scattering intensity obtained by scattering experiments from ternary polymer mixtures cannot, in general, be identified with the interdiffusion and cooperative diffusion processes, contrary to recent suggestions in the literature.

Deformation during interdiffusion
Acta Metallurgica, 1988Abstract A general theory of stress and deformation during interdiffusion is presented which spans the gap between the Darken analysis of the Kirkendall effect and the recent treatment by Larche and Cahn of the interaction between stress and diffusion. Special consideration is given to the generation of internal stress and vacancy chemical potential,

Interdiffusion in Multicomponent Systems
1992The phenomenological basis for the description of interdiffusion in multicomponent systems and the experimental approaches employed for the determination of interdiffusion fluxes, interdiffusion coefficients and zero-flux planes are briefly reviewed.
