Analysis and design of focused interdigital transducers

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 2005
Focused interdigital transducers (FIDTs) can generate surface acoustic wave (SAW) with high intensity and high beamwidth compression ratio. Owing to these features, they are very suitable to be used as the sources of microacoustic channels or waveguides in the near future. The focusing properties of FIDTs are dominated solely by their geometric shapes.

Acoustic fields from PVDF interdigital transducers

IEE Proceedings - Science, Measurement and Technology, 1998
Interdigital transducers (IDTs) made from the piezoelectric polymer PVDF have been built; they transmit ultrasonic Lamb waves into 1-2 mm thick steel and aluminium plates and receive signals reflected from features in the structure. The IDTs are designed to be permanently bonded to the structure under inspection.

SAW Filters Employing Interdigitated Interdigital Transducers, IIDT

1982 Ultrasonics Symposium, 1982
Over the p ast decade a vast effort by numerous groups has produced a wide range of SA\! filters with impressive performance characteristics. Unfortunately most such filters have losses of 20 to 30 dB, which makes them unsuitable for frontend applications.

Electrostatics of interdigital transducers

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 2004
Interdigital transducers are systems of conducting strips on a piezoelectric halfspace; in some systems, the groups of strips repeat periodically over a transducer counting hundreds of strips that can be considered infinite. An infinite planar periodic system of groups of strips with adequate period, sufficiently large if necessary, is considered to ...

Equivalent networks for SAW interdigital transducers

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 1994
An equivalent network approach is described for the analysis of surface-acoustic-wave interdigital transducers. Circuit parameters can he theoretically determined by applying the finite-element method to an infinite array. In this approach, all the effects of piezoelectric perturbation, mechanical perturbation, and energy storage are taken into account,

Tunable patterning of microscale particles using a surface acoustic wave device with slanted-finger interdigital transducers

Journal of Zhejiang University: Science A, 2021
Polymer-based materials with patterned functional particles have been used to develop smart devices with multiple functionalities. This paper presents a novel method to pattern microscale particles into biocompatible polyethylene glycol diacrylate (PEGDA)

Superconducting interdigital transducers

Proceedings of IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium ULTSYM-94, 1994
A 50 MHz surface acoustic wave (SAW) delay line consisting of two interdigital transducers (IDTs) has been fabricated from a thin film of YBa2Cu3O7-d, a high temperature superconductor, deposited on YZ LiNbO3. The insertion loss measured as a function of temperature shows a large improvement (~12 dB) at the superconducting transition.

Circular interdigital transducers

Journal of Applied Physics, 1990
The purpose of this article is to establish the focusing properties of a new kind of transducer consisting of circular electrodes deposited on an isotropic substrate and covered by a thin piezoelectric layer. We first express the electromechanical equations of the device and determine its boundary conditions.
