STATUS REPORT ON LAMB WAVES [PDF]
Theoretical and experimental aspects of Lamb waves are considered. These are described as body waves, or modes, which travel throughout an entire plate and are radiated from both surfaces, so that it is possible to detect Lamb waves when the receiver and

A Lamb wave lens for acoustic microscopy [PDF]
In a conventional scanning acoustic microscope the excited leaky modes contribute significantly to the high contrast obtained in the images. However, all such modes exist simultaneously, and the interpretation of the images is not straightforward, especially in layered media.

Multiple reflections of Lamb waves at a delamination [PDF]
Wave propagation in laminated plates with delaminations was calculated using the semi-analytical finite element method. The visualization results and deeper numerical analyses revealed the following phenomena on the fundamental Lamb modes at delamination regions of laminated plates.

Detection of cracks in metal sheets using pulsed laser generated ultrasound and EMAT detection [PDF]
A pulsed Nd: YAG laser with an approximately Gaussian beam shape is directed onto the surface of an aluminium sheet at an energy density below which damage by laser ablation occurs, generating Lamb waves in the sheet.

An acoustic multi-touch sensing method using amplitude disturbed ultrasonic wave diffraction patterns [PDF]
This paper proposes an acoustic multi-touch tactile sensing method. The proposed method is based on an amplitude disturbed ultrasonic wave diffraction pattern.

Subsonic Lamb waves in anisotropic plates [PDF]
A six-dimensional complex formalism for analysis of Lamb waves propagating with subsonic speed in anisotropic plates is formulated. Conditions for nonexistence of certain Lamb waves in anisotropic plates are obtained. An example of a transversely isotropic plate having “forbidden” speed at which no subsonic Lamb wave propagates is presented.

A self-assembled metamaterial for Lamb waves [PDF]
We report the design and characterization of a self-assembled, locally resonant acoustic metamaterial for Lamb waves, composed of a monolayer of 1.02 μm polystyrene microspheres adhered to a 1.27 μm thick free-standing silicon membrane. A laser-induced transient grating technique is used to generate Lamb waves in the metamaterial and to measure its ...

Stochastic forcing of the Lamb–Oseen vortex [PDF]
The aim of the present paper is to analyse the dynamics of the Lamb–Oseen vortex when continuously forced by a random excitation. Stochastic forcing is classically used to mimic external perturbations in realistic configurations, such as variations of ...
