A multiplexed light-matter interface for fibre-based quantum networks

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
Scalable networks for processing and distribution of quantum information using photons can be achieved by using multiplexed quantum states. Here, the authors report frequency-multimode storage and spectral-temporal photon manipulation of heralded single ...

Quantum-confined Stark effect in band-inverted junctions

open access: yes, 2017
Topological phases of matter are often characterized by interface states, which were already known to occur at the boundary of a band-inverted junction in semiconductor heterostructures.

What Do Large Language Models Know About Materials?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
If large language models (LLMs) are to be used inside the material discovery and engineering process, they must be benchmarked for the accurateness of intrinsic material knowledge. The current work introduces 1) a reasoning process through the processing–structure–property–performance chain and 2) a tool for benchmarking knowledge of LLMs concerning ...

Interface Effect in QCD Phase Transitions via Dyson-Schwinger Equation Approach

open access: yes, 2016
With the chiral susceptibility criterion we obtain the phase diagram of strong-interaction matter in terms of temperature and chemical potential in the framework of Dyson-Schwinger equations (DSEs) of QCD.After calculating the pressure and some other ...

A Positron Lifetime Study of Cooling and Natural Aging of Solutionized Aluminum Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The process during cooling of Al–Mg and Al–Mg–Si alloys from the solutionizing temperature down to 20 °C is interrupted. These states are analyzed with positron lifetime spectroscopy to trace the processes during cooling. In different temperature ranges, two stages of vacancy loss and solute clustering are identified.
