Protocol for quantifying miRNA trafficking across the endosomal membrane

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An in vitro protocol measures miRNA uptake into endosomes isolated from mammalian cell extracts, which are free of subcellular contaminants. Performed at 37 °C in the presence of ATP, it ensures the import of single‐stranded miRNA into the endosomal lumen.

Interfacial texture-driven failure behaviors of Gd/Yb co-doped YSZ thermal barrier coatings under thermal cyclic loading: Design and optimization

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
Double ceramic layer (DCL) thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) with excellent thermal shock resistance have been developed but are weakest at the inter-ceramic interface.

Effects of Size and Aggregation/Agglomeration of Nanoparticles on the Interfacial/Interphase Properties and Tensile Strength of Polymer Nanocomposites

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2018
In this study, several simple equations are suggested to investigate the effects of size and density on the number, surface area, stiffening efficiency, and specific surface area of nanoparticles in polymer nanocomposites.

Additives in Biphasic Hydroformylation: An Analysis of the Influence of the Interfacial Area

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik
AbstractThe optimization of the homogeneously catalyzed biphasic hydroformylation has attracted considerable interest due to its potential to enhance chemical efficiency and product yields. In the past, evaluations of such processes primarily focused on conversion rates and selectivity with limited insights into the underlying interfacial phenomena ...

Heterotropic regulation and negative homotropic cooperativity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We identified a structural module common to some proteins that couple negative cooperativity with heterotropic regulation, two features that rarely coexist. These proteins are ring‐like and present an ordered asymmetry whereby noncontacting subunits are symmetric, and their tertiary structure differs from that of contacting subunits.

Avidin is evolutionarily conserved in fish but dispensable for development and resistance against Streptococcus agalactiae in zebrafish

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The presence of biotin‐binding avidin proteins in fish and their biological significance are poorly characterized. We cataloged fish avidins and demonstrate that they are widely present and evolutionarily conserved. We created avd knockout zebrafish and show that zebavidin is dispensable for development and that resistance of avd knockout embryos in ...

Mechanistic insight into cooling-rate-driven bubble evolution and interfacial bonding strength in directly bonded Ti–PET materials

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Joining Processes
This study elucidates the mechanistic relationship between cooling rate and interfacial bubble evolution in direct bonding of commercially pure titanium (Ti) to polyethylene terephthalate (PET).

Self‐Regulated Learning Meets AI: Reinterpreting Self‐Regulation, Co‐Regulation, and Socially Shared Regulation in Human–AI Interaction

open access: yesNew Directions for Adult and Continuing Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Advancing artificial intelligence (AI) has transformed learning and work, yet higher education and professional development programs have not systematically equipped learners for AI‐prevalent environments. This lack of preparation creates uncertainty regarding control, responsibility, trust, and accountability.
