Measurement of local two-phase flow parameters of nanofluids using conductivity double-sensor probe

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2011
A two-phase flow experiment using air and water-based γ-Al2O3 nanofluid was conducted to observe the basic hydraulic phenomenon of nanofluids. The local two-phase flow parameters were measured with a conductivity double-sensor two-phase void meter ...

Forming behavior of friction pull plug welding for 2219 aluminum alloy and its effect on interfacial bonding quality

open access: yesHanjie xuebao
Aiming at improving the interfacial bonding quality of friction pull plug welding (FPPW) joints for 2219 aluminum alloy, the evolutions of temperature, plastic strain, and normal stress field during forming of joints were investigated on the basis of ...

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

Morphology Characteristics of the Liquid–Vapour Interface in Porous Media

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The evolution of the liquid–vapour interface plays a crucial role in multiphase flow, heat and mass transfer, and fluid phase change in porous media. A thorough investigation of the interface under varying degrees of saturation is necessary and crucial ...

Plasma EV Proteomics Identifies ECM Remodeling and Inflammatory Proteins LUM and C7 as Candidate Biomarkers in FSHD

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) is one of the most debilitating and common muscular dystrophies. Despite its severity, no approved therapy exists for FSHD patients. However, several therapeutic candidates are currently under development, and some have recently entered clinical trials, marking the need for reliable ...

Paramagnetic Rim Lesions and Choroid Plexus Volume at Diagnosis Are Associated With Cognitive Progression Independent of Relapse and MRI Activity in Early Relapsing–Remitting Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Paramagnetic rim lesions (PRLs) and choroid plexus (CP) enlargement reflect smoldering inflammation in multiple sclerosis. Their role in cognitive progression remains unexplored. Eighty‐seven early relapsing–remitting MS patients were enrolled at diagnosis and followed longitudinally.

Prediction of interfacial area concentration based on interpretable neural network

open access: yesHe jishu
BackgroundInterfacial area concentration (IAC) is a key parameter of the interface transfer term in the closed two-fluid model of two-phase flow, which characterizes the strength of the gas-liquid interface transport capacity.

Digital Cognitive Phenotyping for Differential Diagnosis and Monitoring in Neurological Conditions

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To assess the utility, accessibility, and equivalence to supervised scales of online cognitive assessment in older individuals with cognitive impairment. Methods Patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD, n = 31), idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH, n = 26), and traumatic brain injury (TBI, n = 23) completed online cognitive ...

Integrating Time‐Adjusted Imaging Instability Into Functional Outcome Prediction After Intracerebral Hemorrhage: Development and Validation of the HAGIV Score

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Early risk stratification may support clinical decision‐making in spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). We aimed to develop and internally validate HAGIV, a score integrating frequency of imaging markers (FIM), a time‐adjusted non‐contrast computed tomography (CT) metric of hematoma expansion, with established predictors for 90‐
