Enhancement of the in-plane and pin-load bearing behavior of a quasi-isotropic carbon fiber/epoxy matrix multi-scale laminate by modifying the fiber-matrix interphase using graphene nanoplatelets

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2020
The present work examines the effect of incorporating two different concentrations, 0.1% and 0.25%, of silane-functionalized graphene nanoplatelets GnP-GPTMS onto the carbon fiber surface of a quasi-isotropic laminate with the aim to enhance both, the ...

Paclitaxel induces NM2‐dependent cellular contraction through GEF‐H1 dissociation from microtubules and RhoA/ROCK activation in cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Taxanes are widely used chemotherapeutics whose effects on cellular mechanics remain poorly understood. We show that paclitaxel induces rapid cellular contraction by promoting GEF‐H1 dissociation from microtubules and non‐muscle myosin II activation through RhoA/ROCK.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Effect of Folded Structures on Interfacial Solar-Driven Seawater Desalination

open access: yesMembranes
Currently, solar-driven interface evaporation for seawater desalination is believed to be an effective way to overcome freshwater shortage. To improve the efficiency of solar-driven interfacial evaporators, designing the evaporator’s structure is ...

Comparative study of micellization and surface properties of cationic and anionic surfactants in acetonitrile - water mixed media [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society
A comparative study was conducted to investigate the micellization behaviour, surface properties and wettability of the cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and the anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) in acetonitrile ...

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

Study on the extraction kinetics of phenolic compounds from petroleum refinery waste lye

open access: yesJournal of Saudi Chemical Society, 2011
A large amount of waste lye is produced in petroleum refineries during alkali cleaning process, which consists of high concentration of phenols, sulfides, oils and other pollutants. In this study, tributyl phosphate (TBP) was used as extraction agent and

Aquaporin‐3 and aquaporin‐5 impact the development of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma spheroids

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of the role of aquaporin‐3 (AQP3) and aquaporin‐5 (AQP5) in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Both proteins are upregulated in PDAC and are associated with tumor progression and metastatic potential. Silencing AQP3 or AQP5 in PDAC spheroids results in decreased diameter, area, and overall growth, underscoring their key ...
