Modeling interfacial area concentration in bubbly flow
Physics of FluidsAccurate mass, momentum, and energy transfer predictions through gas and liquid interfaces are critical in simulating gas–liquid two-phase flow dynamics. Since the interfacial transfer rates depend on the interfacial area concentration (IAC), it is essential to model the IAC accurately for robust two-phase flow analyses.

The interfacial area concentration (IAC) is one of the most important parameters in the two-fluid model for two-phase flow analysis. The purpose of this study is to develop the local IAC measuring method by using the five-sensor conductivity probe. In this paper, the mathematical approach of the five-sensor conductivity probe method for measuring the ...

Abstract Pool scrubbing is one of the severe accidents (SA) countermeasures in nuclear power plants. In pool scrubbing, gas containing Fission Products (FPs) generated in the reactor during SA is passed through the pool water in the suppression chamber to move FPs into the pool water and prevent them from being released into the ...

Closures for the Bubble Size Distribution and Interfacial Area Concentration
2015This chapter is devoted to the presentation of the closure laws for the interfacial area transport equation and other multi-size bubble models. Considering first the single size case, the different forms of the interfacial area transport equation are recalled and their closure laws are reviewed.

On thermodynamic closures for two-phase flow with interfacial area concentration transport equation
International Journal of Multiphase Flow, 2005Abstract The present work is a part of a modelling of forest fires fighting by aerial means. In this paper, we study different kind of closures for modelling two-phase flows with an almost “infinite range” of scales. Since theories like homogenization are not, in this case, relevant for obtaining the equivalent medium equations, the averaging method ...

Concentrated emulsions with 0.7 < φ < 0.9, where φ=volume fraction of internal phase, may be produced, in principle, through polydisperse packing of droplets and/or through distortion of the same. By use of an ideal fcc configuration, it is shown that a volume fraction as high as 0.89 may be achieved with spheres of three sizes.

Abstract Interfacial area concentration is an important parameter in modeling the interfacial transfer terms in the two-fluid model. In this paper, the local geometric and statistical characteristics of upward co-current dispersed bubbly flow in a pipe have been studied both at the entrance ( L D = 8 ) and at a region far away from the entrance (
