Interfacial dynamics and structure of surfactant layers
Advances in Colloid and Interface Science, 2005The present article provides current opinion on studies of the interfacial dynamics, adsorption, and structure of surfactant layers. The physical principles and applications of physicochemical methods such as tensiometry, ellipsometry, photon correlation spectroscopy, and neutron reflectivity techniques, as well as relevant theoretical aspects related ...

Interfacial properties of pulmonary surfactant layers
Advances in Colloid and Interface Science, 2005The composition of the pulmonary surfactant and the border conditions of normal human breathing are relevant to characterize the interfacial behavior of pulmonary layers. Based on experimental data methods are reviewed to investigate interfacial properties of artificial pulmonary layers and to explain the behavior and interfacial structures of the main

Interfacial Interactions in Polymer-Layered Silicate Nanocomposites
Langmuir, 2008Interactions between sodium montmorillonite (Na-MMT) and a variety of probes, some of which are intended to model components of a polyurethane system, have been studied. Particular attention was given to the effect of preadsorbed water on the adsorption behavior of the probes.

Interfacial shear rheology of protein–surfactant layers
Advances in Colloid and Interface Science, 2008The shear rheology of adsorbed or spread layers at air/liquid and liquid/liquid phase boundaries is relevant in a wide range of technical applications such as mass transfer, monolayers, foaming, emulsification, oil recovery, or high speed coating.

Interfacial Layers in Brittle Cracks
Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1988A study has been made of interfacial layers that form within cracks in mica and silicate glass. The layers are the result of interactions with environmental species behind the crack tip. Deposition processes are associated with precipitation from aqueous solutions and corrosion of the crack walls.

Interfacial diffusion in layered polyesters
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1996Microscopic observations of cross sections of laminates of unsaturated polyesters revealed a birefringent zone (interphase) at the interface. Several observations associated with this interphase were made that predicted either beneficial or detrimental effects of the presence of the interphase in the laminate.

Thin-layer interfacial copolycondensation
Polymer Science U.S.S.R., 1981Abstract A study has been made of features of the copolycondensation of aliphatic diamines and dicarboxylic acid dichloride in thin layers of the monomers under dynamic synthesis conditions. This method of synthesis is compared with other methods. It is shown that the composition of the copolyamides is determined by surface properties of the diamines.

Thermophysical Properties of Interfacial Layer in Nanofluids
Langmuir, 2007Although recent experiments have revealed that nanofluids have superior thermal conductivities to base fluids, the inherent physics are not fully understood. In this study, an interfacial layer, competing with Brownian motion as a corresponding mechanism, is conceptually connected with the surface-charge-induced electrical double layer.
