Interfacial properties of Morse fluids

Molecular Physics, 2007
The interfacial properties as reflected in the interfacial tension values and the density profile of Morse fluids has been studied. The parameter range is chosen to coincide with that describing the behaviour of solid metals. The interfacial tension has been found to follow Guggenheim's and MacLeod's relations. However, the constants, while independent

Interfacial properties of xanthan gum

1992
Abstract The adsorption characteristics of xanthan gum onto a model substrate, i. e. monodisperse, spherical polystyrene latex, have been studied. Xanthan gum adsorbed onto the polystyrene latex from both aqueous and 0.5 M NaCl solutions and low affinity isotherms were obtained in the both cases. The configuration of the adsorbed polymer

Liquid-crystalline polymers: interfacial properties

Faraday Discussions, 1994
Main-chain liquid-crystalline polymers (LCPs) in nematic media are ellipsoid-like objects. Long LCPs support hairpin defects. The elasticity of the major axis is then significantly weaker than that of the minor axis. Furthermore, the major axis is aligned with the nematic direction. These two traits give rise to novel interfacial behaviour of solutions

Interfacial properties of hybrid nanomaterials

Pramana, 2005
A brief summary of our ongoing efforts to understand the surface properties of nanoparticles using fluorophores, namely pyrene alkanethiols, is presented. Excited state interactions were investigated by varying the length of the spacer group and the concentration of fluorophore.

Material Properties and Interfacial Friction

1991
The equations describing the thermal and mechanical events in the roll gap need to be supplemented with appropriate boundary and initial conditions. For the mechanical component these include the resistance to deformation of the metal to be rolled, the frictional forces at the roll-strip interface and the shape of the deformed contact surface ...

Interfacial properties of polyacrylamide solutions

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1999
Surface tension of the polyacrylamide solution was measured as a function of the polyacrylamide concentration (0–1000 gm/m3) and temperature (10–60°C). The static contact angles of the polyacrylamide solutions in the range of 0–1000 gm/m3 were reported on the polyvinyl chloride and Teflon substrates. Surface tension, static contact angle, and spreading

INTERFACIAL PROPERTIES OF MIXED SILICA

2011
In the last decades, the investigation on the interfacial properties of complex systems composed by particles and surfactants has become increasingly important. In fact, such systems are employed in many technological fields (e.g. oil recovery, cosmetics and food industries) since the presence of solid particles effectively increases the stability of ...
